For the first time in four years, a new Mastered! series issue has been released. This time, it's Issue 17.

The Mastered! series is a set of mashup albums by MixmstrStel, going all the way back to 2013, when the first issue, MA-1, was released.

Over the last few years, I've produced a lot of mashups for Crumplbangers challenges and various releases along the way. I've also been a part of and helped out with so many albums. Since I haven't had time to produce music videos due to the sheer number of tracks and work in general, it's time to start catching up and finally get a lot of tracks out in the wild.

Early this year a new remix came out of nowhere for a throwback which many didn't expect. The @leondismusic remix of I'll Do It just goes hard. 

Heidi Montag ended up releasing a new music video for I'll Do It and included the original + multiple remixes on Spotify. Affected by the California wildfires, she and her husband Spencer Pratt also asked for donations.

All background aside, I was really inspired by the I'll Do It remix after hearing a part of it on Instagram. The remix reminded me of Arin's and Justin's mashup on An Influx Of Mashups, which happened to use the original I'll Do It. So I reached out to them, asked if I can make a new version using this remix, and they give me the go-ahead. I'm happy they did because Britney fit so well over this remix, feeling like Femme Fatale turned up to 11. It also sounds like a proper club edit with verses, choruses, and a bridge. Sure it's a little more trashy but it's part of the vibe.

With Miami Music Week and Ultra approaching, I thought I'd finally release a radio edit of the mashup I made for the Crumplbangers 72-6 mix back in late 2023.

This mashup is honestly perfect for a Bigroom crowd and really goes back to the early 2010s when mashups and ragers went hand-in-hand.

I didn't think I'd be touching Bed Chem by Sabrina Carpenter, but here we are. Let's just say I went to a few dance parties over the last few weeks and creative juices were flowing.

Back in 1991, Congress (the one that actually got things done) released a dance classic in 40 Miles. Like a lot of dance tracks around that time, they were simple but had some timeless riffs. There's actually a bit of sampling in this song too already, but the samples used all blend in perfectly. That string synth feels timeless as well. Listen for it because it goes really well with Sabrina's backings here.

Honestly when this idea came to me and I ran with it, it worked perfectly. I cannot tell you how many times I've listened to this mashup after making it, which hopefully means a hit, but we'll see.

Normally I'm not working with a lot of local material but when I heard about a local Boston label in VOTION RECORDS @votionrecords trying to put EDM on the map I was excited.

So I figured I'd make a mashup of their very first track with VO & @don_kon to mark this achievement and try to put my own spin on it using Beep by The Pussycat Dolls.

When I first showed short snippets of the initial Techno Ass & Beep mashup I was skeptical of what the reaction was going to be at first. Techno Ass was just the label getting started, and Beep isn't The Pussycat Dolls' biggest song. But it turned out Beep was ripe for a fresh remix, and there was a LOT of demand on TikTok for a full version of this mashup. Even more demand than I normally get. I'll confess that I've been singing Nicole's verse so many times, it fits THAT WELL.

So this mashup release became one to fast track, and now it's yours. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making this!

Just when you thought Abracadabra Dance would be the only mashup I would take part of, another mashup idea fell into my lap. 

DJ J-Brew approached me with a concept mashup of Abracadabra and Song 2. It was a really good concept, but I also knew it had the potential to be something truly special. After all, genre clashes were largely lacking for Abracadabra, and Song 2 is an amazing mid-90s rock classic. Simply put, I knew we needed to do it right for it to pack a punch. 

Using some of the same chord progression tweaks that made Abracadabra Dance special, I helped apply them to a brand new version, complete with the kind of mastering and arrangement that goes into both MixmstrStel and Mix & Brew releases. 

But if you read the description for the original mashup, you already knew all that. The difference? This version transforms the Blur x Lady Gaga mashup into a tech house anthem for your dancefloors :)

Once I sent this to local DJs and got it played to a crowd of hundreds opening for a big Afro House act in Levi, I knew from the crowd reaction that this would be a hit. 

Huge shoutout to @lyndsaysimon for being one of the early rinsers and believing in this track :)

A NEW COMPILATION SERIES BEGINS. Introducing Dirty Water Mashups.

The Dirty Water name is a reflection of some of the tracks I've heard in Boston clubs and raves that I have experienced over the last few months as well as by touring acts. The compilation also highlights a few local Boston artists as well.

I've been finding connections between the tracks that get played and throwback hits from the past to come up with some INCREDIBLE mashups that I would like you all to have in your collection. All of these mashups are mixshow length for DJs to mix into.

Some of these mashups were sent as promos and rinsed by local Boston DJs. You Should Be Spinning was played in front of a thousand people at the Grand in an opening set for Levi.

And now it's all yours. I hope you all enjoy these mashups as much as I did making them!

A couple nights ago, I thought about all the different remixes and originals trying to emulate HNTR's style with the one repeating note.

Turns out Billy Joel was the original OG. Movin' Out has the heart att-ack-ack-ack-ack-ack-ack lyric that repeats just like the Stephanie-e-e-e-e-e one in the HNTR remix.

So I thought why not throw that heart attack part over the same part of the HNTR mix? To me, this is a great wake-up anthem for a crowd who needs a classic to lift their spirits and get them moving.

I first played this mashup at my first open decks at Bootleg Special to a small but really good crowd. A fellow DJ and model who would go on to become one of my bigger fans asked me if I was playing f'cking Britney Spears and the tagline stuck. We were singing this mashup together and it was glorious.

The mashup started as just Chris Lake and Britney Spears but it took on a life on its own during my second open decks at Cloud & Spirits. I invited @lyndsaysimon and her crew and right as You Should Be Spinning played, they were there. So I knew I needed to rinse more of my material.

Sure enough, I played a version of my Toxic vs. Toxic mashup and looked through my USB to see what to play next. Good thing I went on a MATRODA binge, because I happened to have a song called Britney in my collection. Once I played it, Lyndsay knew exactly what I had done and gave a good chef's kiss after a bit of dancing and singing.

I didn't stop there. As soon as I noticed that Britney by MATRODA was a half step above Toxic in key, I envisioned adding the Britney spoken vocals into Toxic, adding the Toxic riff, and using the Toxic riff to create a Disney key change. What I made in the DAW at that point, shared on socials, and circulated to a few DJs became what I feel is TRANSITION OF THE SUMMER.

Who makes a Toxic vs. Toxic mashup, then create a stunning transition to Britney by MATRODA worthy of tour status? The stars had to align, and they did in an amazing way.

The transition mix was so good it got played on a boat during Lyndsay's support set in front of San Pacho. The crowd felt it and really sung along to the Britney Spears parts. I plan to share the transition mix as a separate track on SoundCloud so you can appreciate its greatness.

With all that said, I'm releasing the radio edit as the single and sharing the full release pack on Hypeddit for you all to download.

I did a number of open decks and practice sessions on XDJs and CDJs to practice and starting to record my sets to identify the rough edges to fix.

Still have a lot to learn but it's a lot of fun performing on club equipment, showcase my work, and really get creative.

We even got to do some karaoke to my mashups in a few spots :)

Remix.audio Live Set 9-26-2025 - Afro House + Tech House + Latin House + Mashups

Here's the set I performed LIVE on CDJs in the Sound Experience studio in South Boston.

This set aired on TikTok Live on October 4, 2025.

I did a number of open decks and practice sessions on XDJs and CDJs to practice and starting to record my sets to identify the rough edges to fix.

This time I was a bit more careful on beatmatching but took more risks including mixing to add layers and beatmashing. Towards 55 min in I started getting ambitious but it's worth trying new things and tweaking :)

No mashups this time, just a good Tech House mix with Latin styles sprinkled in. Even snuck in some local flavor with back-to-back tracks and remixes by Boston-based artists.

I would go on to do an after later that night.

Mastered! RAW Volume 1 Live Set: Tech House + Latin Tech

Buelfest is an annual URLfest created by guywith_dog on Twitch spanning multiple days that raises money for a community cause. This year, Buelfest is planned to go five days with one day of afters.

My set took place on the first day of Buelfest 2025. It was a departure from the sets from earlier that night but fans really loved the vibes. A variety of Afro House, Tech House, Progressive, and Latin House all made the mix with a sprinkling of mashups.

MixmstrStel's Buelfest 2025 Set (Studio Mix)

Every year for the last few years, pomDeter has been hosting Crumplmas as an alternative to Crumpstock. 

Unlike regular sets at Crumplstock which are an hour, artists performing have only have a 12 minute set though they can and have gone a little longer. 

Since I had only 10-20 minutes to set up after work the setup ended up being a little rushed so I ended up doing the mix in Virtual DJ and used one of my USBs.

Not quite the 20-30 minute length but enough to get a few songs in. Also meant mixing quick so it's less polished than I'd like but not out of the ordinary.
