This edition of BRCast features an exclusive mix by Chris Nord

Chris Nord, DJ and producer from Salzburg in Austria, discovered his passion for electronic music already in the early 90s. When you find him behind he decks in a club or at a festival, you can expect a floating but forward driving mix between minimalistic deep tech and minimal techno with a dark and gloomy touch, spiced up with signature groovy elements.

In terms of production and his style hereof, Chris always kept various musical options open. His own productions vary from stripped down progressive influenced sounds to more minimalistic and bass heavy (Minimal) Techno tracks with a certain dark note. The one thing in common for all tracks, is the energy in them, focusing that on the dance floor. During time, Chris has released  and remixed on labels such as — Subios Records (GER) — Soupherb Records (GER/IND) — Shadow Wulf (USA) — Friendly Critters (GER) — Pointzero Rec (BEL) — Techgnosis Records (CAN) — Patent Skillz (GER) — Mothr Music (ARG) and more Last but not least, he also co-founded the successful Austrian event brand called Tiefdruck, at the end of 2018, a project also known for their own popular global podcast series, that focusses on dark and minimal aspects of techno.

The aspiring era of electronic music in the late 90s led Herr Oppermann behind the decks at an early age. Driven by an enthusiasm for the electronic sounds of synthesizers, he quickly developed a deep connection to the music that still permeates his work today. His passion began with his own events and a residency at a club in his home town. From there, his path led him to further stations, including a  weekly radio show as well as performances in clubs such as the legandary Stammheim in Kassel, Warehouse in Cologne, Uebel & Gefährlich in Hamburg, Mødular Club in Capetown, or the JuicyBeats Festival in Dortmund just to name a few. Born from the faded neon glow of Brazil’s late-night cityscapes and the haunting echoes of the dancefloors, Modern Life is the latest EP by Encanto—a cinematic and emotionally charged journey through everyday fantasies and bittersweet introspection. Blending acid, deep house, dream house, and Balearic textures, the EP explores the space between reality and imagination—where melancholy meets movement, and sound becomes a vehicle for visual storytelling.

Crafted with a minimal home studio setup and an instinctive approach to production, Modern Life channels the mood of VHS nostalgia: dusty, saturated, and emotionally ambiguous. Inspired by late-night thoughts, urban escapism, and the aesthetic universe of David Lynch, the EP translates complex emotional states into hypnotic basslines, washed-out pads, and cinematic build-ups designed for both the dancefloor and the inner world.

Modern Life it's a reflection on how we romanticize our chaos—through film, through music, through moments of trance. It's an invitation to dream, to release, and to feel deeply while moving through the blurred edges of modern existence.
