Just three years after Popcaan first stepped out in his Clarks as Vybz Kartel's protégé, he has quickly established himself as one of Jamaica's biggest artists. His distinctive voice, versatile style and positive energy has propelled him through summer smashes “Ravin” and “Party Shot,” pensive political tracks “The System” and “Dream,” and gallis anthems like “Only Man She Want.” Along the way, he's piled up tens of millions of YouTube plays, a Billboard Hot 100 hit and high profile collaborations with Snoop, Pusha T, and Busta Rhymes.

His much anticipated debut album will be dropping on Mixpak in the first quarter of 2014, and we're proud to release “Everything Nice” as the first single from the record. Popcaan lays his trademark catchy melodies and controlled flow over a minimal riddim produced by Dubbel Dutch that lies somewhere between dancehall and hip hop. Delivering a reflective and casually nostalgic track on the balance of working hard and holding a meds, the song is dedicated to his fans and their struggles. As Poppy whiles his worries away, the track eventually melts with the vocal, leaving a bittersweet blissfulness.

“Everything Nice” sets the tone for the LP, in name and nature. This is the first of a new palette of sounds and songs that carry Popcaan’s next chapter.

"Love Yuh Bad" is the second single off of Popcaan's much anticipated debut album, Where We Come From, which will be released on June 10th via Mixpak. Hot on the heels of the lead single "Everything Nice," this sultry and energetic second single is a love song for the dance. Produced by Dre Skull (who also serves as the album’s executive producer), "Love Yuh Bad" pairs Popcaan's signature melodiousness and catchy rhythmic flow with skipping percussion and driving strings. It wouldn't be a Popcaan album without a wining song and "Love Yuh Bad" fully delivers the goods.

Over the last two years, the Mixpak Records name has swiftly become synonymous with dancehall, thanks to label owner Dre Skull’s production work with Vybz Kartel, Snoop Lion, Popcaan, Tifa and more. So it’s a natural fit that the second volume of the Mixpak Pressure compilation series is chock full of 12 dancehall-inspired riddims. Inside Volume Two, a curated selection of top producers from the dancehall and underground electronic world turn in instrumental or near instrumental tracks that prove you don’t need a full vocal for a dancehall riddim to hit hard.

Following the first southern rap-inspired installment, Mixpak Pressure: Volume Two represents a strong collection of vibes, from big and bashy club hits to chilled-out rockers. Twelve producers from three continents give us their unique twist on the distinctive dancehall beat, embracing the driving syncopated rhythm and heavy bassline.
