Born and raised in California’s Bay Area, Miyoki contributes her west coast vibes with New York Assertion. Upon first glance, it’s not hard to tell, Miyoki is heavily influenced by vintage sounds. “I love the 70’s and 60’S, it reminds me of my grandmother and her days. The African- American community was so oppressed, all they had was music to soothe the pain”, Miyoki states when discussing her admiration of the past. 

  It’s not just music and style that makes Miyoki stand out; it’s her strength and tenacity. Born into stereotypical conditions of the African-American culture hasn’t stopped her from obtaining her dreams. At the age of 6, Miyoki lost her father to the US prison system. “He was heavily into the street-life. I don’t condemn him because it’s how he was raised. In my family, the men wear prison time as a badge of honor, unfortunately.” 

Now as an established Model, Miyoki is ready to show off her musical talents. Take a listen as Miyoki embarks on this journey. Be ready to go through a ride of emotions, but somehow remaining calm. With the energy of lion, the appearance of an Egyptian Pharaoh, and the talent of an alchemist, you can be sure Miyoki is here for the long run!
