I don't really talk about it anywhere, but mental health problems that run in my family really took over my life for many years and did a number on my ability to make music. That's why I went quiet for so long -  got a contract with a label I admired and the self imposed pressure just snapped me in half, wasn't ready for it, didn't have the right work ethic, wound myself up about letting down people I really look up to and spiraled into writers block and depression that went on for like 8 months at a time with gaps.

It was some bad shit, but i'm well better now and been moving in the right direction for the past year and a bit. I first started the project file for this song in late 2014 and just finished it a week before Christmas 2019. It's not some magnum opus or anything, but I got the point and vibe across that I was aiming for, which is just what you need to do sometimes instead of being so bloody precious about everything. 

Point is: everyone gets hit with shit like this in one form or another - especially if you have to make something. This song took five years to get out - sometimes you need to change lanes, but don't ever quit.
