For the newest Animix, Thailand based DJ & producer @sunjuhargun has put together a beautiful downtempo trance exploration. Sunju co-curates @siamesetwinsrecords , an amazing label which focuses on trance-y, psychedelic sounds from Asian based artists. 

Sunju has a multitude of impressive releases under his name, as well as aliases Mogambo and Khun Fluff, and a plethora of beautiful mixes - which always seem to find the perfect balance between emotional and driving. Sunju has been a household name across the region for over a decade, playing spaced out music in forests, warehouses, and castles.

An infectious groove is one of the most important elements to everything I purchase and play. Closed eyes, a swaying motion in the hips, a looseness of the shoulders, and a polyrhythmic shuffle to the feet - these are the signs that the audience has checked themselves out of the present and gone to nirvana. It would be a lie to say that I don’t gravitate towards the trance elements, the shuffling drums, and the structured basslines - 20yrs of my recordings that have been floating around the internet would prove that to be a paramount character of everything I present to the audience. So with this mix, I wanted to encapsulate all the wiggling and swerving that I encourage my crowd to have with this upbeat, tripping, energetic mix of vibes I’ve amassed over time. Time to get twisty with episode six of “The Arsonist & The Architect,” appropriately titled “Chicane.”

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis, resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of the field.  This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.
