Yesterday is but today's memory, and tomorrow is today's dream. There are lots of people who mistake their imagination for their memory. 
My earliest memory is my mom picking me up after I had fallen down, giving me a big hug and reading me 'Goodnight Moon.'
Science and technology revolutionize our lives, but memory, tradition and myth frame our response.
Own only what you can always carry with you: know languages, know countries, know people. Let your memory be your travel bag.

Memory is the ability of the mind to record, maintain and recall past experiences. The three components of memory are the sensory memory, short-term memory and long-term memory.

Sensory memory is something fascinating. This storage mechanism allows us to retain an incredible number of details of a moment that we have lived and it works for all senses: hearing, view, smell, touch, and taste. Although we are not aware of this, our brain records all the stimuli we receive and will store a small extract of them. When we remember, we force ourselves to stimulate our brain in the same way that it was in this memory.

Marcel Proust, one of the greatest authors of French Literature, was fascinated by the past and somewhat nostalgic. In his book « Looking for lost time », he wrote « And all of a sudden the memory came to me. This taste came from this little piece of madeleine my aunt Leonie used to offer me Sunday mornings in Combray. The sight of the little madeleine did not remind me of anything until I had tasted it. But when nothing remains from an ancient past, after the death of the beings, after the destruction of things, only, more frail but more perennial, softer, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and flavor remain long, like souls, to bear without decline the immense edifice of remembrance."

La mémoire est la faculté que possède l’esprit d’enregistrer, conserver et rappeler les expériences passées. Les trois composantes de la mémoire sont le registre sensoriel, la mémoire à court terme et la mémoire à long terme. 

La mémoire sensorielle est quelque chose de fascinant. Ce mécanisme de stockage nous permet de retenir un nombre incroyable de détails d’un moment que l’on a vécu et il fonctionne pour tous les sens : ouïe, vue, odorat, toucher, et goût. 
Bien que l’on n’en soit pas conscient, notre cerveau enregistre tous les stimulis que l’on reçoit et va en stocker un petit extrait. Lorsqu’on se souvient, nous nous forçons à stimuler notre cerveau de la même façon qu’il l’a été lors de ce souvenir.

June's full moon is brought to you by German talent Landhouse. Influenced by the techno party scene during the naughty Nineties, he started deejaying in early 2000.  Hosting a small Party row in Erdbeermund Karlsruhe called Wohnstubendisko since 2008, Landhouse started producing in 2014. 

His compositions are deep and touching, very powerful tools to unfold profound emotions and able to take you from dreamy atmospheres to the tenebrous side of music. 

We are proud to announce that this mix contains some inedited songs from his new 8 track Album LIFE, to release here on Pachamama mid July 2018. Watch this space and enjoy this podcast in the meantime!

The first episode in a monthly series running fo most of 2019. 

The Textures series showcases the diverse and eclectic shades of Merkaba Music, selected from the depths of the label catalog. 

Mixed live by Kalya Scintilla 

My background is steeped in musical journeys, from playing in high school rock and funk bands to DJing vinyl for 7+ years and then entering the world of live electronic music, I love the art of piecing together a tapestry of sounds and music to carry the listener through an emotional and textural landscape. Last year I took a big breath and a big long look at the journey of Merkaba Music and realized what an incredibly large and diverse catalog had been created. I imagined a passionate music lover, or crate digger as we were called in the vinyl scene, coming across this immense co-creation of music and art and feeling a little overwhelmed. The real devoted ones would dive right in knowing that it might be hours of searching to get through it all and other might just listen to a few and bookmark it for another day. 
So I decided to create some label mixes to showcase a wide variety and diversity of the content on the label. It started out as a mini series of 3 or 4 mixes but as I dug deeper into the catalogue I realized that it would take at least 8 stories to capture what I intended. 
I spend months putting together groups of tracks and then in March of 2018 while having some down-time in Bali I set up a couch and small DJ table overlooking a beautiful Balinese tropical garden where I was staying. I then immersed myself in the music and nature and mixed these 8 musical journeys live in the moment to capture the essence of Merkaba Music and its journey over the years.

Story behind my set:
Pollution & Religious Harmony 

My set starts with haunting sounds of the deep sea as if to say that the sea world is complaining about the way we humans have polluted their homes. You can hear cries of help & anger from the whales…

As the set moves on to the second half, I talk about my upbringing… My father, Jalaluddin Ferozali Shroff was a Muslim (Ismaili), and My Mother, Bharati a Hindu (Konkani, Brahmin). We (Shama (My sis) & me) were brought up to be good human beings first, live in harmony, respect one another and spread love. We would celebrate Diwali, Christmas and Ramzan with the same enthusiasm and excitement as the other. Welcomed everyone to our home without discrimination. Never asked anyone, their religion! 

Sadly, times have changed and so have people.. This is my humble attempt to show people that we can all live together and respect each other as humans and not differentiate by religion. And so my set contains verses of Hindu & Islamic cultures. This set will touch your heart and might make you slightly emotional but I hope it brings a smile to your face. 

Music has no boundaries. Music Unites us!
