Hungry Music returns with a fantastic release from Worakls. It features the epic “Nocturne” composition that showcases Worakls’ incredible fines of building musical tension with cutting edge drum sequences, and beautiful classical textures.

Over the course of more than nine minutes Worakls layers up diving bass frequencies, reverb drenched chords and intense strings. Once all of the above get joined by the thundering groove the whole track really takes off and carries the listener with it!

Frankey is the pseudonym of Frank Beckers, and one half of Frankey and Sandrino, who have been releasing quality house of the likes of Innervisions, Drumpoets and many other labels of the last years. Beckers here drops two essential cuts for Poker Flat Recordings. 

'Dream' is deep and driving, utilising interesting melodic timbres such as a kalima to add depth and dynamics. 

'Rotary' is similarly adventurous yet firmly wedded to making people move - a stirring groove underpins various bleeps, blasts and shuffling sounds, before an epic bassline takes things to a new level.

When Frankey & Sandrino launched Sum Over Histories back in 2016, the first EP ever to appear on the label was 'Path Integral I', a three tracker with providence in two different ways: Firstly, it was forseeable that a second part would follow at some point in the label's history and secondly because the first edition of 'Path Integral' already foreshadowed the musical direction the label would take – namely Frankey & Sandrino focusing on established, aspiring artists or their projects and release artsy worthwhile mental and delimiting electronic music with no expiration date. Almost two years and four releases later, the second installment of 'Path Integral' paves the way for six new gems, ready to be discovered, ready to be played out, ready to hit the zeitgeist and ready to give a set an ambitious and advanced whiff without sounding pretentious.

The B3 of the EP, 'Through the Door', is from Kris Davis' creative well. Warm synth-chords characterize the track's basic idea but undergo an intentional sound-treatment that stretches the last notes and adds some harmonic disharmony to it or in other words, edginess over happiness creating artsy moments in dance, on the floor.

Sum Over Histories' 'Path Integral II' EP will be released on June 14th, 2019.

EXCLUSIVE: Kris Davis - Through The Door [Sum Over Histories]

To mark the launch of his new label Swoon Recordings, South African legend Ryan Murgatroyd delivers a cinematic, up-tempo composition titled 'Wicked Eyes'.

Swoon Recordings is a label birthed from Murgatroyd's desire for sounds that extend beyond the 4/4 dance floor standard. With a sultry vocal lead and some gritty keys, Ryan teams up with fellow countryman Kostakis to remix 'Wicked Eyes' to round out his debut EP on the flagship label. The track laid dormant for nearly 15 years, before Murgatroyd stumbled back upon it one recent night, and with it births the evolution of his sound toward the melancholic avant-garde.

Speaking about the new release itself, Ryan elaborated on its unique story and the vision behind it: “A melancholic yet hopeful piece about the burden of a labour of love, Wicked Eyes was recorded in Johannesburg almost 15 years ago, and sat on a hard drive for over a decade, forgotten about. We found it one night and instantly reconnected with it, tracked down the old friend who had sung the vocal and layered all the harmonies. Wicked Eyes is a tale about longing, about the burden of doing that which we love the most, and how the things we love are the things which kill us.”

The ‘Wicked Eyes’ EP is set for release June 14.

A showcase of fresh talent from the global electronic scene, Anjunadeep’s Explorations series returns this June for its tenth instalment. This time around we welcome a stellar lineup; six Anjunadeep alumni in Luttrell, Michael Cassette, Antic, Marsh, Just Her, and Fluida, and two label debutants in Wassu and Elif, all of whom will be playing at Anjunadeep: Explorations in Albania this summer.

An update on his 2016 belter ‘Need You’, Luttrell’s ‘Need You Now’ makes special use of his own vocals, building to a euphoric finish typical of the Beatport top ten producer.

After 8 years, Michael Cassette returns with the nostalgic ’Shadows Movement (Solar Energy Remake)’. An update on his 2008 label classic, the cut affirms Cassette’s high-energy production is as powerful as ever.

His fourth release on Anjunadeep, Antic’s mesmerisingly intense ‘Next Time’ plies his own vocals amongst a deep, acid-led arrangement perfect for those late hot nights.

A sure staple of summer 2019, ‘Like You’ is a collaboration between Marsh and New York producer and friend Wassu (FKA Weston Butler). This sweet cut sees Marsh’s own vocal drift on top of a sublime chord progression and distant field recordings.

A darker turn, Just Her’s invigorating ‘Nothing But Time’ marks the Brighton-based producer and Essential New Tune recipient’s third Explorations appearance.

Exotic duo Fluida return to Anjunadeep for their third release ‘Indian Kicks’; the track’s uplifting arrangement and rousing percussion stemming from samples of their own field recordings in India.

Closing out the release is the enlivening ‘Random Act of Kindness’, from label debutant Elif. Istanbul born, Amsterdam-based, Elif’s nomadic lifestyle is reflected in her multi-faceted production.
