Rebel Music 006 - Tephra & Arkoze - Infiltration EP

Hot on the heels of the success of the "Drama" EP from Bristol's Creatures, Rebel Music are back again with a stunning 4 track EP of deep, solid, driven and refined cuts from one of the scenes most exciting duos, Tephra & Arkoze.

Teaming up on the title track "Infiltration" with long time friend Nick Modern (aka Data), a creeper designed for the dancefloor with its monstrous bass and crisp stepping beats. "The Clause" is a deep, sub low journey, tinged with melancholy vocals and solid sound design. 

The guys strike gold again with the track "The Witness", pacey percussion teamed with punchy beats and a serious slice of bass line, amen edits and a weighty switch for the 2nd drop!. "Dog House" rounds of the EP with another super textured dive into the deeps. Long, pulsing bass notes and a huanting melody set the mood, whilst the rhythm section keeps the track moving.

Already receiving huge support from some of the scenes leading DJ's, prepare to be infiltrated by the sounds of Tephra & Arkoze.

Everyone loves a banging remix, and here at Lifestyle we’re no different. Historically one of the most fun & exciting projects to put together, we’re back with the third edition of our Lifestyle Remixed series!

It’s a pretty simple recipe: we take bangers, give them to some sick producers, who turn them into further bangers; it’s sick, and the results are always fantastic. Previous editions have seen some god-tier combinations: Zero T & Revaux, Ill Truth & Lockjaw, and Signal & Vorso, to name but a few.

For this edition, we’ve plumbed our catalogue for a mixture of deep cuts and stand-out bangers, and got some of our favourite producers to break them into bits and build them back up again. The tracklist speaks for itself, but it’s got to be heard to be believed! We’ve got Wingz remixing Black Barrel, Revaux taking on dutch newcomer DOt., the mighty Black Barrel reworking the breakout banger ‘Africa’, the boy wonder himself remixing Nami’s iconic ‘Inside ft 'Lo’, Fre4knc taking on an Objectiv banger, as well as Danger’s competition-winning remix of ‘Vermin’. Bossman Animus twists up Revaux & Charli Brix’s ‘Colours’, one of our biggest tunes from 2018 getting a seriously brucked out edit, and Belgian badboys Glÿph take Nami’s ’Shake The Universe’ to truly galactic planes, wicked.

As well as all that, to celebrate ten years as a label, we’ve also reached all the way back to LFS020, and got Synth Ethics & Was A Be to team up, reworking Viscera by Ed:it - updating the banger 7.5 years after it’s initial release! Crafting it into a big, stinky stepper, beautiful stuff.

You can probably imagine the program; it’s all kept pretty dark & dangerous this time round, complex bass design leaks out all over the shop, and there’s not much relenting from start to finish, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Some of these have been doing the rounds a bit, causing absolute carnage whenever we play them out, some of them are brand spanking new, but we think you’ll agree they’re all hurters. It’s been an absolute joy to put together this release, so we hope you like hearing it as much as we’ve liked making it!

inHabit Recordings is proud to present our first release in our new ‘Momentum’ series from Kidsonic. Bristol has an enviable history in this music, stretching from the days of the The Wild Bunch, Smith & Mighty and Massive Attack through to Full Cycle and latterly Jungle Syndicate and Sofa Sound, not to mention the hundreds of producers and DJs who have moved to the city for inspiration and collaboration over the years, so it’s safe to say that it takes an awful lot for a young producer to stand out there, and yet over the course of the four tracks on this EP that is exactly what Kidsonic does. Effortlessly showcasing the many strings to his bow, this EP moves from heads down rollers like “Altum”, call and response tribal steppers built around catchy vocal samples like Deeper Love, as well as an artfully constructed vocal banger crafted around the unmistakable bars of MC Swift.

Each of the tunes has been getting plenty of early support on radio and on livestreams and we are entirely confident that no matter how long it takes until the clubs open their doors again this EP will still sound fresh enough to play at the welcome-back party.

Each of the four tracks that make up his debut release on our label showcase a slightly different side of his art, commencing with the blurry, switchblades-and-circuitboards Cyberpunk gurgler that is Terra Firma, and ending four tunes later with the smacked out dissociative crescendos of Clandestine, having zigged through the celestial heights and murky depths of Bermuda, and zagged through the pummeling tour de force that is Alien Trip, and honestly, who even does that anymore? And why not? This is the real deal, kinetic, agoraphobic soul for people who have heard it all before but need beats that make them FEEL something as well as beats that make them move.
