I've been collecting the tracks in this mix for 10 years.  Some are new and others are over 10 years old.  I have been collecting music for so long I forget about the gems I have purchased so long ago.  This mix is a deep dive accessing a style I have always admired but never actually tried to make something happen with. Brass Tax had our own stage at BOC this year, tucked away from the fray up in a corner, and we couldn't have been happier with seeing all the beautiful (masked) faces who came by to say hello! In addition to being my first public appearance since NYD 2020, this is one of my favorite sets I've ever played, full of funky, soulful house, midtempo breaks, and groovy rolling basslines. We didn't get a recording at the festival, so I decided to recreate it live from Bowerbird. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

The Road to Ojai

For this installment of my chill series I found inspiration the moment I heard a vocodered voice singing Hotel California in the Luxxury edit. A week later I heard AfroQBen's amazing remix of Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith and I was off to the races. Being a New Wave kid as a teen I didn't get into many of these songs until my adult years and yet somehow I listen to this mix and it makes me feel like a teenager again.
