It’s time for Father Funk to get the party started: this Friday, he returns to Dirt Monkey’s 19K imprint for his rapturous Boogie Time EP complete with three funk-fueled cuts. Since releasing his full-length record Funkstep last year through 19K, Father Funk has become bass music’s grooviest act and continues to challenge the boundaries of genre on his latest work.

Father Funk links with vocalist Jozy to open Boogie Time: “Renaissance” bursts through the speakers with a funky hip-hop flair powered by Jozy’s spunky vocals and Father Funk’s irresistible grooves. Inviting, energetic, and unforgettable, “Renaissance” is just a taste of what’s to come. Next up, the EP’s title track ramps up the excitement right from the get-go: “Boogie Time” opens with a gloriously funky bassline and disco vibes all over the place. Father Funk demonstrates his bass-driven funk when the beat drops, flexing his one-of-a-kind sound design and unparalleled style of production as a whole. This funk-meets-glitch-hop crossover is the antidote for when you’re feeling low and need a solid pick-me-up in the form of colorful sound.

To close the EP, Father Funk offers the seemingly peaceful “Wondering,” luring in listeners with a soft piano until he enters the soundscape with a fat bassline and bouncy percussion. At the drop, Father Funk crafts an ultra-satisfying beat driven by glitch hop elements and melodious synths, a combination that will get any music lover on their feet.

Altogether, Boogie Time tells the story of a funk obsessed producer with the drive to challenge the status quo through his music — Father Funk has lived up to his name time and again, but Boogie Time takes the cake for his most
innovative release to date.

“I'm SO excited to finally release my brand new EP Boogie Time,” Father Funk says. “It’s been such a long time since I put out a whole EP of midtempo bangers, and with this EP I wanted to update the classic Father Funk sound for 2021 by incorporating more complex sound design and by spending more time getting the production to as high a standard as I possibly could. I’m super proud of how it turned out. I’m also super stoked to be releasing a track with the incredibly talented Jozy — we have worked together for a number of years, but this is the first track of ours to come out.
