Amos Bubele Yanta also known as Mk the Prince,was born and raised in Cape Town South Africa in 1989. Mk the Prince works predominantly in the medium of performing arts as a musician, a poet and a monologue performer. 

Kapital P (as he is also known as) felt his love for performing arts banging hard in his chest in the year 2007, that is when he started listening to the voice that was embedded deep inside him from birth…he never studied performing arts or anything in relation to arts. He is strictly self taught from observing international and national artists, and because he had a story to tell and a talent and skill to share he started writing his own material…and to strengthen his talent and skill he attended many hip hop workshops held by the likes of Dj Ready D, Black Noise and Jitsvinger around Cape Town.

Late in the year 2008 Mk the Prince started performing in small platforms to experience crowds using microphones and other stage equipment. That very same year he competed in a hip hop competition titled ‘Hip Hop Explosion‘ and he went as far as claiming second place. That gave him more confidence and self belief going into events,shows and park jams. 

In 2009 he was selected to be part of a visual and performing arts project, titled ‘Peripheral Vision‘ working with Swedish youth. After an exhibition that was at District Six Homecoming centre, Mk the Prince was selected to be one of the 6 South African youth that would go represent South Africa in Sweden Stokhlom. When he came back, using all the skills he gained his experience from working in the ‘Peripheral Vision’ project, he worked with community projects such as Ooze youth arts project, Peace Jam arts and development project and lastly Phush’okwakho youth arts and skills development program. When he came back he continued where he left of doing performances as often as he could. In 2010 he competed in the battle of the Emcees competition and he took first place. Other then that Mk the Prince has had solo shows in Cape Town and townships around it in places such as Khayelitsha, Mfuleni, Strand and many other places. 

Mk the Prince is represented in the collection of the Peripheral vision compilation as well as in the District Six Museum Youth Programs. Kapital P has had many stage performances, radio interviews, television interviews and newspaper appearances over the years gaining as much experience as he can. In 2013 he was invited to perform in the Ubizo Festival that happen over a period of 3 days. At the award ceremony of the festival to participants that excelled in their departments. Mk the Prince was awarded with 2 awards, one for Best Rapper and the second award for Best Performer in Hip Hop. 

Kapital P didn’t stop there, he is now working hand in hand with Ubuntu Academy that was founded in Holland and now has a branch in South Africa Cape Town. He is part of the exhibition that is in the MUTI Gallery of both visual and performing arts. 

2014 in April Mk the Prince released his debut album that had 19 track titled Deaducation. Album sold very well…better then what was expected of it and from there Kapital P grew from strength.

After the album he released a track that is on the album as a single track titled ‘Crazy’ featuring K.Paulz, Purple, Dinny TM and Axo that track got more then 23 000 downloads in 4 weeks he never went down or showed any signs or slowing down after that. He then released a solo single titled ‘HBDS Siphokazi’….that track made 20 000 downloads within 11 days…he is going from strength to strength indeed.

Kapital P is now in the middle of a music video shoot of a track that he recently did with various artist from around Cape Town, from areas such as Khayelitsha, Mitchells Plain. Track is titled ‘Kings of the Underground’.Artists that are featured on the track are Mk the Prince, Loon Heffner,Dale X and Q Rock. updates on the video will be available soon.
