KOO Pt. 1 & 2 (mix no. 2)

It's in lydian mode, hence the name. Has nothing to do with any person bearing that name.

Originally „composed“ as a minute-minute and a half wall of noise – an opening, hm... act for a band's gig on February 14, 2023. Couple of weeks later I decided to use loop pedal to add a simple background riff and it became a song... a sort of.

Originally, title included a word(s) „(little) muff“, referring to a model of fuzz(!?) pedal used to achieve that „hairy“ (!?!?)sound, but I've realized that there's no need for rudeness. Then I used a Glagolitic letter „L“ as a symbol/logo for the track. Some people are predestined to be rude, I guess.

Recorded on a tube amp that has a will of its own: it likes to sing when nobody is playing. Tried to remove that singing in this new mix, but you can still hear it at the beginning.

After a bit painful process of recording and mixing (there is a slight background noise I just can't get rid of; produced by some open strings, probably), I had a trouble with the name of the track. So, I've opened some collection of stories written by H. P. Lovecraft at random page and read the part of sentence that goes like „he had come to the unknown world at last“. Suitable enough.

Unknown World at Last

Variation on a theme from „Runaway/Crash“ by Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow (soundtrack for A. Garland's 2022 movie „Men“). 

At one moment, I had become obsessed with the main motif from that track, playing it over and over again. One Monday evening (I guess it was in November), I added a background track, and finished it on Tuesday morning. Took me some time to record it.

No Profit under the Sun (Pt. 1 & 2)

A bit ridiculous, probably because of a 3/4 measure. 

Not a big fan of this time signature, since it reminds me of those cheesy Austrian movies about empress Sissi that were regularly broadcasted on Croatian television during the winter holidays in the 90's. It had nothing to do with my political views – I didn't have them, since I was a kid – I was (and still am) just disgusted with all that high class Habsburg aesthetics, waltzes and cheesy tourist oriented stuff like Mozartkugeln. 

Fortunately, you could watch „Mad Max“ and „Highlander“ trilogies in the evening hours.

Still don't get which demon tricked me into making and recording this unspeakable horror™.
