When I was trying to decide what song of Snowball to try to remix, I had a whole weekend to kind of sit on it. In the end, "These Things" really hit home with a lot of personal "stuff" going on that was leaving me overwhelmed and feeling trapped in my situation. The lyrics resonated with me, and I wanted to just go back to a simpler time. So that's exactly what I aimed for in my remix. A melodic dubstep beast of a song with its heart trapped in 2014.

I had to remake the vocal chops using the vocal stem since they weren't isolated from the rest of the stems (a pain, but not impossible with LMMS), and I got a lot of inspiration from Molly Otto's video breaking down how These Things was made as a track. In particular, there was a little lead that popped into the original here and there that I really liked, so I expanded its presence in my remix.

Total amateur when it comes to music production. I have played around with music since the late 80's and tracker software, a nice complement to learning programming at the time. 
I only started to get a hang of it for real the last few years by spending time watching a lot of good Youtube tutorials, listening to music of different genres and most importantly experimenting and making more music. I use LMMS as my DAW and free resources from various places.
