Poolside.FM - Jacuzzi Diaries Vol. 2 (Mix By Colour Vision)

Two thousand fourteen was an incredible year, personally, professionally, and musically. Most importantly, I found 'my people.' I didn't have to look hard: there they were, dancing ecstatically to beautiful house music - on a Tuesday night. I didn't know it then, but a year later, the Monks of Funk would be the people I'd call home.

So when the word went out we'd be renting out a retreat in the mountains for New Years, I did what any sensible person would - called up my biological family and convinced them to join us for 48 of the best hours I've had in a long time. From live jam sessions to mindfulness meditations, yoga to nerf archery-dodgeball, from day hikes to hot-tubbing, it was a memorable way to ring in the new year.

This is the set I played for family old and new, from the last hour of 2014, through the midnight 'ball drop' (listen for Sasch - Ederlezi) and on into the first moments of 2015. I reached both broad and deep for the tracks I selected, honoring the funky, upbeat nature of the people I know in San Francisco, but also veering into dark and introspective moments that reflect on the challenges one year can bring. New Years Eve is catharsis. Every single track is one I know and love intimately, and I was happy to contribute this mix to the people I hold dear.

This fancy hat did its work, taking us on many magical adventures. We found beautiful storms, deviant rabbits, bumblebee monkeys … And someone lost his red pants.

On the Friday night of that tenth year, I wore this fancy hat atop the Robot Heart. And we went on our greatest adventure of them all."

Simon Shackleton B2B The Scumfrog Live from Double Down at Mighty SF 3/28/15.

We'd been waiting for this one since NYE when an impromptu tag set happened between these two and we knew it was fate at it's finest hour.  We got the boys together and the result was incredible, a 4 hour B2B set with The Scumfrog also providing some live drums to compliment the set had Mighty in a frenzy of dance.  We are certainly looking forward to doing this again!
