Formed in 2018, The Intonarumori Trio is Danielle Kirby, Mat Ward and Dylan Banks. All three are Hobart based artists whose individual professional practices all span 20 plus years. They have diverse artistic backgrounds that include painting, instrument and theatre design, installation, classical music, noise- art, graphic design and academic research. They have all exhibited, published and performed extensively across Australia as well as undertaken international art-based residencies.  

The trio explore the more occult-centric aspects of Russolo’s practice, approaching performances as a ritualistic space to play with the idea of connection and communication beyond the human realm. 

Russolo believed, and pursued the idea that noise could be used as a bridge to spiritual understanding. He sought to congure and transform energy through the Intonarumori’s ability to ‘spiritualise’ noise. 

Performances by the Trio are pure improvisation, allowing the space and the air to guide the players.

In my teens I read all of Carlos Castaneda's books. Carlos penned his philosophies in what is likely a fictitious story of fictitious characters where he teaches shamanism. Whether or not Don Juan was a real person and nagual to Carlos doesn't matter to me, he still shared some amazing truths on existence through his experience and imagination.

When reading the books I listened to one album. Good Gods Urge by Porno for Pyros. It's a very interesting nugget on association and musical memory for me as that album still to this day brings me back to the world of Don Juan whenever I listen to it.

It might not bring you to the land of Don Juan and his buddies but it's an epic album anyways!

Well this weeks project started ugly. iOS does not play well with large files from others Dropbox, in fact large files in general. When download failed tried saving to Google drive, also no good and so probably the first and last time you will here me say ‘Boy, that iTunes share works well!’ Once I got he file on the iPad, I started listening in Audioshare and trimming out material that I liked. With half a dozen clips of varying length I started working in Cubasis. I ended up having six tracks but also wanted a bit of drone under, so in iPulsaret I loaded one of the bell sounds and triggered it with a C2 and a .05 ratio on playback. All sampled sounds are from the St. Louis bells and bowls of Chris Kallmyer! Track breakdown:

1. The iPulsaret fading in towards the end, no fx
2. Samples as played by Chris, with verb, width and bit crush ramped in
3. First pattern of samples, light chorus and verb
4. Second pattern with 2 delays, tape and long
5. Third pattern, stereo cycling
6. Forth pattern, clean
7. Fifth pattern, the rhythm, light verb.  
The tracks were automated, some for pan and others fx. 

The track title comes from the Spanish settled region in southern Colorado and is fitting in both name and sound, as this area has many Spanish style churches and the ceramic bells remind me very much of mission bells :-)

I am still looking, trying and experimenting, I really like electronic ambient for many years, but it only works as a live percussionist. In short, nothing is black or white:)
In today's hectic world I need quiet sounds and the vast majority of songs created at night, so are my compositions such as they are.

My tracks is based on the absolute freedom of the use of sound. Arises as if I painted a picture. In the head is the base, and then adding the details here and there.
As well as if I were his music told the story.

I use: Ableton-Live-Suite with Partnerinstrumets, Kontakt Player + virtual instrumentzs,NI-Machine, Ableton Push, Acces Virus TI Snow, Waldorf Blofeld, AKAI MPK 49, Korg Microkorg XL+,KORG Kaossilator,Kaosspad,KORG Wavedrum, Roland HPD 20, nord lead A1 r, Yamaha mx49, Roland Edirol for Fieldrecordings - and various live percussion.(Kalimba, frame drum, tombak, koshi etc)
