Seize The Day

First composition in my MUS 490: Electronic Music class. Entire piece is composed off of classical wave forms such as white noise and sine waves. 
Software used: FM Synthesis in Max/MSP, Logic Pro

Reminds me of my N64 days...still have those :) Form is mainly a Theme and Variations, Theme is at the beginning and re-stated at the end. Three variations are found in the middle to create a different feel to it.

Groovy Raceway

Fun little tune formed on improv and just fun! The title inspiration comes from a friend who listened to it, and thought it sounded like Motown in the beginning (with the bass). I then figured everything starts to constantly change, therefore, I get lost within my own composition. Eventually, I come back to the original theme, realizing I was lost, and need to stay on track.

Lost in Motown

This is a piano piece w/string quartet accompaniment. It tells the story of my friend's mom, Amber (from when I first met her , to when she lost her battle to breast cancer in 2011). Amber was a kind, compassionate, strong willed, and joyous woman. It reflects what a wonderful person she was, which is the main theme of the piece. I used to play this theme in their basement all the time on the piano while she was still alive.  As the piece approaches the bridge and modulates up a half step, this is when she moves on from this world, and the family's loss is then filled with a new mom and siblings. The end re-visits the theme from the original key in remembrance of Amber, and celebrating the life she lived. The last minor 7th chord reminds the listener to enjoy every moment as if it was your last.
