Everything Falls Into Place

The radio hissed and buzzed in the corner, blurting out indecipherable snippets of information which briefly captured the attention of those lining the walls of the room. What they were listening out for hadn't yet been identified, they'd had little to no news for days now that some had began to give up on hearing anything. But the transmissions would continue to broadcast, it was their only connection to the outside world, their only glimmer of hope amongst the darkness.

On his latest release, 'Baptism in the Cathedral of Commerce', multi-disciplinary artist Campbell Irvine marries music, visual and text to explore the concept of broadcast encryption. Taking the form of speculative fiction, the work welcomes listeners to enter an alternate Cold War scenario through a Yugoslav lens, namely nuclear bunkers, shortwave radio and numbers stations. Alongside the music, composed and produced by Irvine, collaborators including Marta Sundac, Benjamin Gredeson and longtime creative partner Stefanie Parnow, helped to shape it into a boundary-blurring media project.

Glasgow's LWS has been catching the ear of tastemakers since he started making his percussive and drum-heavy bass cuts. The up-and-coming producer has already made pitstops at labels like Tdsr, Eyeangle Records and MELD, as well as launching his own Matrice Recordings which started life at the beginning of this year. Now he keeps it local again with a debut on Redstone Press, a label who have been making similar waves to the young producer. Hot on the heels of their fourth release with Henry Greenleaf, they draft in LWS for his Aerosol EP, a collection of leftfield bass tracks that range from high energy workouts to wonky chugging grooves. Commemorating this, Jin Records will release a unique compilation with five Taiwan-based producers celebrating the island. Crossing the musical spectrum, it showcases the diversity of Taiwan's electronic music scene.
To celebrate further, we will donate 50% of the revenue to the Taiwanese NGO Green Citizen's Action Alliance (GCAA) 綠色公民行動聯盟. This organization focuses on environmental issues and seeks to preserve Taiwan's unique biodiversity.
