SURFING THE ZUVUYA

Every Thursday from now until I decide otherwise I am uploading a very short live performance video that I will be making specifically for this Weekly Mini Gig feature (starting with 1 piece, limiting future gigs to 5-10 minute range). This is not limited to Strange Powers material. Future Mini Gigs can and may include other projects such as Men In Burka, Cloud Spell, One Night Band, Collaborations and more. Sugar Bleep was a project by Josh Powers, Jessa Lubken, Summer Snover and DJ Red C. The band was active from '05 until '07 and played DIY venues and dive bars (such as Emerald City and Old Curtis Street Bar) in Denver.  This was the only song ever fully recorded with with a proper mic. All other recordings were live or practice sessions. This was uploaded 5 years to the day of Jessa's passing (Happy Birthday Jessa!!)and 10 years after it was recorded. 09-20-16

Strange Powers covers the Berlin classic. 

The song first appeared on Berlin's breakthrough album Pleasure Victim, released on the independent label Enigma in 1982 and re-released on Geffen in 1983. "The Metro" became the third single from the album, and the second to appear on the Geffen label. It was produced and engineered (as was most of the album) by the band's then-drummer and drum programmer, Daniel Van Patten.
The Berlin recording is known as epitomizing the new wave genre, for showing the genre for what it essentially was: a blending of punk rock and pop, with heavy use of the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 synthesizer. Terri Nunn said the song, which was a breakthrough hit for Berlin, "defined us and defined that period of music. - wiki

I haven't been completing any music because of health problems for the last 8 months or so. this is just a little synth jam that I did when I couldn't sleep. Totally improvisational live p.a. (arranged live, made on the fly)
