Old people.. are you afraid of the afterlife? 
I'm in my 50's does that qualify me to comment on death? 
Na,I'm  not worried about the afterlife or ghosts. 
Looking back to my childhood visions of heaven and hell, 
they seem a bit capitalistic. 


Essentially, the idea was that a poor person in this life 
can have all the lux in the next,
 just by being a "good person." 
Pearly gates, golden streets, mansions, 
all the trappings of the rich, can be yours
 if you're properly pious in the adversity you live in now. 


Another view of heaven I saw a lot came from religious pamphlets. 
They depicted people of multiple ethnicities all joyously working together 
to bring in some bountiful harvest. 
There were no machines, just hand tools and baskets. 
I guess if you lived where you didn't get much to eat,
maybe that would be your dream of prosperity. 


Becoming an adult means you spend a lot of time 
with people promising you all kinds of shiny futures
if you just give up some of what little you already have.
Conversely, there are plenty of threats related to the same idea. 
From being robbed to being taxed,
there's always someone pressuring you
to be more compliant. 


 Getting older usually means 
the cycle is more apparent, 
the new thing is just the old thing. 
This includes refrigerators, philosophies. 
and death.

I just changed the band name and URL. I'm not setting off in some radical new musical direction, though I'm leveling up a bit. I'm compiling a book based on the music and the descriptions of music I post here on Sound Cloud. Maybe that doesn't really clarify the reasoning for the change, but that's all I've got right now.
