International Womens Day Special Mix

|D/A\W/A\ unites a group of three self-taught DJs and music enthusiasts merging their respective traditional music roots with contemporary genres. The result: music heavily imbued with Afro-house, electro, deep-house and Latin-bass rhythms, all while becoming its own unique dance vibe.

For the past three years, |D/A\W/A\ has made a name for itself – breathing new life in the Paris’ underground scene with its infectious DJ-sets, unconventional events and performances. It gained further popularity with its appearance at the Nyege Nyege Festival (Jinja, Uganda).

Vanessa Maria is a DJ, Broadcaster at Foundation FM, and host at Resident Advisor. Named as one of the most important young people in music, she made her mark on radio stations across the country sharing her love for underground UK music. On the dancefloor, Vanessa showcases sounds from around the world, infusing high-energy Baile Funk rhythms with everything from Jersey Club to Hard Drum. Renowned for her genre-spanning mixes and high energy 130bpm sets, you’ll need stamina to keep up. She’s been busy making appearances at Boilerroom, Dazed Magazine, Warehouse Project and HÖR in Berlin. Vanessa’s work in and around music and mental health has also not gone unnoticed, from launching a radio show for Black Butter Records to interviewing the likes of Jaguar, Tiffany Calver and Juls. As the key presenter at Resident Advisor, she currently hosts a music and mental health-related podcast and documentary series. Most recently, she has been named as a leader in shaping the future of London’s nightlife by The Face Magazine. NAYLOR mixes old classics with new, underground artists, ensuring you get your weekend off to a flying start.

Ginoooo! is a rising selector, party organiser, photographer and artist born and raised in Hong Kong and newly relocated to one of the creative capitals of the UK, Bristol. Inspired by his love for blues, jazz, soul, and funk, the signature sound of his mix is often intensely sentimental, vibrant and rhythmic. Making his official stage debut at 21, he has shared the stage at local music festivals and clubs with international musicians and other local DJ legends, including Yu Hagiwara and DJ Kulu. Moving to the UK in 2024, he made his appearance and is actively bringing his unique, contagious energy to the South West. 

After completing his Bachelor of Psychology and Master of Behavioural Science, he drew implications from his knowledge to emphasise the importance of community and public mental health, and decided to dedicate his love for music and art to community building and experience design.

In this guest mix, he incorporated some of the classic tracks that elucidated his idea of house and dance music, with his personal touch of Hong Kong dance music.

"I'm 48 years old, from Oakland, CA.  I started djing about 9 years ago because I was told that I would be good at it, do to my love of music. Always wanted to DJ as a youngster, but never thought I had the time. I was always the person people asked to bring all my cd's when going to a party or BBQ. I haven't done any big show or events. Mostly weddings, crab feeds, reunions, and house parties. My goal is to be able to DJ on a huge stage at a festival or concert. 2 years ago I enrolled in a beginners course at Scratch DJ Academy in Los Angeles. DJ Flex is a UK based DJ who has a passion for music and the universe. Almost 10 years in the game playing in the clubs but the passion for DJing started 15 years ago playing UKG on his cousins turntables. Inspired by universe, the cosmos and other lifeforms, he runs his own online radio show called Infinite Beats Show which centres around the theme if future beats and crazy edits. DJ Flex has been played on various UK radio waves and podcast shows such as, BBC, DJ City, Fresh FM Leeds as well as radio shows worldwide.
