Mendelssohn, Felix—How Lovely Are the Messengers

These are 3 of Heritage Choir's favorite pieces from the 2016-17 season. "Indodana is in a lesser-known African language and is a mournful piece on the death of Jesus, written by contemporary South Africans. "Sing Joyfully" is a Renaissance anthem penned by English composer, William Byrd. "Verleih Uns Frieden" is an enduringly popular piece written by Romantic composer, Felix Mendelssohn, telling of the peace and protection that comes from God.

MNU is a private Christian university in Olathe, KS with a rich history of excellence in the arts. The choral program features 3 choirs: Heritage Choir (our auditioned select mixed ensemble), Women's Choir, and Symphonic Choir. These ensembles perform a wide variety of literature including gospel and spirituals, classic historical works, new music, and choral masterworks. They are conducted by Christopher Smith, Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Music at MNU.
