Amazingly beautiful music, Monique: “hypnotic mystique” (eye magazine) and “dynamic vocal range” (The Independent Weekly) - indeed! Another precise summary description introducing the track, as part of your album to appear, "HAAK"! I'll enjoy listening to it as a whole, definitely, once released!

I have always preferred the voices of women in music ... In the 90's I have searched insistently with advertisements and asking around here ... over there ... but even though I have not recorded with many women in songs .. I am still excited to listen to them and enjoy the art that they give off!... Excellent song Monique!...

Ahead of the release of their debut album, ‘Spring Tide’, The Shipbuilders release their latest single, ‘Forest Floor’ via Mai 68 Records on Friday 29th April.
An eerie, psychedelic shuffle that brings to mind the freakier sides of Love and The Coral, ‘Forest Floor’ features a bass-led groove that descends into chaos with an extended outro made up of ghostly, wordless vocals, wailing harmonica and tumbling piano, all blown about by a storm of reverb-heavy guitars and relentless motorik drums.
Speaking of the track, lead singer Matty Loughlin-Day explains “the song sings of an impending storm, prophesised by an old sage and queries whether there is hope left in the town or whether it’s best to return to the land and find safety. Ultimately, the hero of the song is trying to find his best to way to survive on the line between the smug and the damned”

Hackney born and Colchester based he returns with a cheeky new single Here Come The Freaks. 

Written, recorded and self-produced by Johnno in the middle of recording a new Snippet album, this song just didn't seem comfortable being sat between two tracks on an album, so it busted out in its own right. 

Here Come The Freaks is in celebration of the picked upon, the bullied and the under-appreciated members of society.

Former caretaker, London Underground railman and relationship manager Johnno Casson aka Snippet started out writing songs at 15 in his bedroom on a Hackney council estate with a tennis racket for a guitar and a soap-on-a-rope microphone.

Johnno juggled being in a band with holding down a normal job (playing a packed Astoria at night and washing out s**t stained lifts in the morning).

Johnno played for Adrian Sherwood’s (On-U-Sound) 5-a-side football team (silky smooth striker), gloriously beating The Sun’s newspaper’s team at a championship for charity at Arsenal’s old Highbury stadium and for the last 12 years he has been perfecting his coleslaw making skills whilst getting M.E and becoming a well-respected figurehead on the British D.I.Y./Wonky Pop scene by making excellent songs that may come from the borders and margins, but kiss you in the sweet spot as good as more mainstream songs do. 

Oh and Johnno has recorded and toured extensively with all sorts of bands including as lead singer with Deep Joy who were born out of the early 90’s London acid house/club scene - via Shoom nightclub and being named as Danny
Rampling’s favourite band, working with David Harrow and Andrew Weatherall who produced and remixed their debut single on Brainiak Records - onto the early years of trip-hop on James Lavelle’s Mo ‘Wax label and being championed by Gilles Peterson on Kiss FM. 

They dented the charts in New York, Tokyo and London and also worked
with the aforementioned legendary On-U-Sound label founder and producer Adrian Sherwood on their Ray Hayden produced material.

For the last 12 years Johnno has been releasing independent music under his own name, as Snippet, Old Tramp and Walken400, creating a unique catalogue of recordings and performances and has been named by Tom Robinson as the most played BBC Introducing artist ever on his BBC 6 Music show. 

He also the founder/producer of the Warm and Toasty Club, an innovative  and award winning club that uses delightful live events to make older folk feel cherished and less lonely. Of late the club has kept people connected throughout lockdown with 70 online chat shows with fun features and live singing guests (called Online Memory Afternoons), a monthly Warm and Toasty Newsletter and a daily telephone befriending service to help keep loneliness and isolation at bay and keep people connected.

“Honeymoon” is the first single to be released off of their upcoming EP, which narrates a journey of womanhood. The story starts with “Honeymoon”, taking a fond look back on the sweetness of childhood rebellion and the sense of freedom and indestructibility you feel as a teen. Withers lyrically recounts stories from her formative years as her now adult self, sharing “It’s nice to have an uplifting sense of appreciation for my own personal experiences which have moulded me even if they didn't seem so poignant or great at the time, how we know not what we have until it’s gone. With that being said there is nothing melancholy about this narrative, I have such a tenderness and affection for my teen self, an enjoyment to revisit her and a continuation of personal growth and one day looking back at myself now with a similar fondness.” Singing, “It was a honeymoon, a cocoon, feeling like someone new”, the music is driving yet ethereal with pop elements that will have you singing the hook all day long.

Dance, it is said, is the hidden language of the soul, but Monique Barry has given it a new linguistic identity by becoming the voice of dance itself. It all happens in her newest single, which, appropriately enough, is called 'Dance'. It's the fifth and latest in a series of singles by Monique that's slated to culminate in a completed album entitled HAAK. 

From single to single, Monique has been exploring the journey from innocence into experience, building on the theme with each song. She enters this new chapter of her musical search by singing in a soothing foxtrot lilt, with the vocal narrative set in a dance club where her protagonist goes to escape a failing romance. There the atmosphere of comfortable chaos with “no cares at all” is highlighted by crisp percussion, music box twinkling (played on a celeste and serving as the voice of disco mirror balls), and synthesizer tones that hover and soar. Gradually as the hunger for escape evolves into a search for order and safety, Monique lifts the lyrics to the next level with her moody, waltzing delivery, and the music gathers into a whirling cloud of sound, suggesting both safety and release, shadow and light.

Her previous albums—Moody (1998), Tripping (2003), Carbon (2009), and Wake (2013)—have established a critically appreciated affinity for musical dynamism and innovation. Always drawing on a wide range of experiential and cultural influences, Monique’s inspiration for 'Dance' evolved from a section of Joseph Boyden’s novel Through Black Spruce in which a DJ plays mainstream dance music with native rhythms mixed in as a way of communicating. 

Also making musical waves on 'Dance' are some of Monique’s most trusted and vibrant collaborators: Marc Merilainen on guitar, Alisdair Jones on bass, Emma Campbell on vocals and  Michael Philip Wojewoda, co-producer, drums and mix.
