I composed my first Disquiet "Ice piece" a decade ago.  Over this decade I have created seven of these (and am sorrowful for the years I missed), and this is the eighth.  As I promised myself, I use the same ice recordings I made those many years ago.  In this composition, four source files are randomly selected for their content.  Each contains ice sounds at a different frequency, and the contrast between those, and the way they are chopped up, repeated, and placed in space and time, forms the narrative of the music.  In addition, two other source files, one a "normal" recording of ice rattling, and the other similar but transposed down, add their occasional commentary.

"Take one held tone and make it dance slowly"

HI, I used a single Saw waveform playing a C note. I made it evolve using the Mod-wheel mapped to filter frequency cutoff and the knobs and faders of my midi controller mapped to tweak filters and LFO in real time.
Recorded two parallel tracks, one tweaking a square waveform LFO1 mapped to "volume" , the second track tweaking a pulse LFO2 mapped to Filter-Cutoff.

Like Santoka and Seisensui, Kawahigashi Hekigoto (1873-1937) was an important advocate of the free verse haiku.
Besides being a writer and critic of haiku, Hekigoto was a literary scholar, noh dancer, art critic, calligrapher, social commentator, and mountain climber.

Flowing Along ( Naviarhaiku 533 )

This track is an asynchronous collaboration with @user-807707609 (he_nu_ri) and @mikey_a as part of the Disquiet Junto Project: I was inspired by the wonderful track https://soundcloud.com/mikey_a/both-sides-of-the-river-disquiet0637 created by these two artists and added the sounds in the middle of the stereo field.

I tried to build on this soundtrack of a peaceful flowing river and add some more musical dimensions. A river can be a metaphor for many different things - and I would like to leave it up to the listener to reflect on this image.
