More ramblings with the third-bridge guitar, as in the previous piece.  This time, the extra bridge and piezo pickup are under the 13th fret--which means one division of the strings is a major 2nd lower than the other.

Though I'm certainly no http://soundcloud.com/steam-abacus (check out his excellent "Guitar Diaries" if you're not following him already), I am having fun playing over a looped rhythm.

In the Artificial Mountains 2 (Seeing Things)

Another third-bridge guitar experiment.  All sounds, except for the bass guitar, were made with the third-bridge guitar, a multi-effects pedal and a delay loop.

Photo: He had been trekking through the Artificial Mountains for several minutes and was beginning to become disoriented.  A crow flew overhead, cawing steadily.  He looked up and stared at the passing bird.

"I know it's wrong to anthropomorphize," he said to himself, "but I think that sumbitch is laughin' at me."

Looking back at the ground, he found himself at a dry streambed which had once been a raging torrent of perhaps an inch or two deep.  But for a few tiny pools, it was now devoid of water...water...precious, life-giving water!  He coughed.  His dry throat began to torment him.

Then, in his delirium, he heard a voice inside say, "Look over your shoulder."  Slowly, he turned and looked, and sure enough, there was a parking lot.  And in that parking lot was his car, and in his car was a bottle of clear, cool water!  He shouted for joy, knowing he would live to return home and tell his dear daughter of the harrowing ordeal in the Artificial Mountains.  And she would smile and say, "I'm so glad you made it home, Daddy.  Can I borrow the car?"

After an exhausting yet fruitful journey to Powell River Mishka and I feel this is the first place to shine our light.To the two young men who sat patiently in the park asking when our set was... and the awesome dancing that followed; next year you will be on the stage with me.
This droid-song is based on an old guitar song of mine about growing up, Star Wars, The Dukes of Hazzard, Bigfoot, The Six Million Dollar Man and sailing to Africa.

As usual, recorded live, it's all broken and floppy and we don't care. Adjust your volume with caution and without, ok.

Another drone performed by Patrick R Barnett on the FP4 Rhodes done around December 2011.  Guitar amp rhodes treatment, MIDI programming and Live FX by Dan Ross.  The pulsing sound in the left speaker is the tremolo from the fender guitar amp.
