Something that helped him to elaborate his own style, is that from the very beginning, he always tried to reflect his passion and taste for music into his productions and Mix-Sets.

From the magical island of Ireland, welcome to our 43st guest, PÚCA

Taking inspiration from Irish Mythology, the “Púca” is a shapeshifting trickster spirit of Celtic folklore that usually takes the form of an animal, or a human with animal features. Its purpose is to abduct wanderers at night, taking them on a frightening yet enlightening ride, and leaving them back at their point of departure by dawn.
+           
Having been a keen drummer in his younger days, he has remained fascinated by rhythm and the impact it has on how we move and think. This is what he conveys in his sets, with a strong focus on densely rhythmic sounds that allow listeners to tune in with their bodies.
+
This set starts with a broken and psychedelic soundscape before moving into a state of rolling hypnotics. Around the halfway mark there is a switch in the timeline, as Púca begins to share his main love and passion for the old school groove.

Also because dancing is one of his great passions, his energetic mixes are always dancefloor-oriented.

Even though his sound is constantly evolving, the focus has always been on a high tempo, precise kicks, sharp hats as well as hypnotic and functional sound elements. The most important thing for him will always be the meticulous digging and selection of tracks by outstanding artists.

Valentina founded a techno collective labeled “999 Ciclo” in 2018.  And since then she has been collaborating with artists such as Desiree Falessi, Sol Ortega, Melanie Massa, Erika Halliday, E110101, among others.

For the 64th episode of our series we brought you a 40 track mix by The Layering Wizard aka JAN GOERTZ.

Jan Goertz's creative work is largely driven by the desire to test and redefine his limits in competition with technology. This is one of the reasons why he is known for his 4-deck mixes containing a multitude of tracks. First two and then three players simply became too boring for him. The motivation to DJ, however, also comes from the calmness that is triggered in his otherwise very bustling head during the process. And of course the fun!
+
His goal in djing is the creation of an "endless groove". By breaking up track structures, Jan wants to form a mix as a "unity from its individual parts, instead of just stringing songs together". He prefers to play with four players.
+
Primarily, Jan draws inspiration from the club context - both as a guest and as an artist. For him, techno is first and foremost "functional and works for and in a club. That's what this music is made for."
+
Nevertheless the layering wizard also tries to combine smooth vibes with strong grooves for his podcasts and the pleasure of listening techno outside of a club.

Cinematographic, rolling, sci-fi techno. Those are the words with which the Barcelona based artist Aristydes defines his driving sound. Fast paced energetic rhythms - coming from his Caribbean roots - meticulously verge into the mix with dreamy atmospheres inspired by the foggy and mountainous landscapes of Lake Garda in North Italy where he grew up.

Larry Artistides Ferrari - his complete name - has devoted plenty of academic research on peace building and raving, specifically the applications of the human act of dancing together as a tool for conflict resolution & community creation. He has written different research papers exposing how the Georgian community revived from the conflict with the help of the local techno scene, in particular the Bassiani case. He plans to keep investigating peace building and techno in post conflict scenarios.

He had already the pleasure to share decks with mind-alike artists forging the new generation of techno - Rene Wise, Arthur Robert, Blanka & Angioma [Room Trax], Marrøn and Windfhur [ Eerste Communie ] or Future 666 [BCCO] - among others. To understand Aristydes standpoint on techno it has to be seen on the wider spectrum as he has travelled the world for eight years, studying International Relations and investigating- as he likes to call it - “anthropology of the dance-floor”. The cities were he spents most of his live are New York and Barcelona, the latter where he has his residency with his collective 01366, which’s inspiration was highly influenced by the psychedelic neon lights of the futuristic Asian metropolis, the city of Seoul.

And finally we’re glad to introduce you to our first South Korean artist. One of the critical figures in the Korean techno scene, Sun Gin.

Sun Gin lets her mix “tell the story by itself,” based on her prominent hypnotic and raw DJing style. Filling the dancefloor with dynamic yet deep waves, she focuses on allowing listeners to reach the deepest freedom from the bottom of hearts. The hypnotic - often meditative - soundscape and the way she weaves the drum patterns in a tense manner have brought her to playing gigs in cities such as Seoul, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Augsburg, and more, allowing audiences to dance and live in the moment with overflowing energy.  Often Sun Gin’s sound goes beyond conventional club tunes, adding fresh, quirky melodies and multi-dimensional vocal sounds, creating an unforgettable moment.

Beyond her music, she has an event series ‘Dark Side Up’ where she introduces techno music and respectful rave culture with freedom of expression, for the local clubbers and newer audience.
