We have always been ardent supporters of the productions of Fernando Miranda Rios aka Michoacan. Cosmic disco has been a common thread for many of Michoacan's early releases, but we have seen him adopting a much woollier and idiosyncratic production style over the years. The Kingdom Of Heaven Is At Hand is the first release since his work for DFA and last year’s acclaimed Disco Sucks So Good remix EP on Eskimo.

On this new 12”, Michoacan embarks on an adventurous trip down memory lane. The entire EP is suffused with seventies moog vibes. You’ll hear influences from early synth pioneers, we even imagined Kraftwerk jamming by the poolside. Combine this splendid nostalgia with Michoacan’s spectacular sound design, and you’ll know why this hasn’t been off our record player for weeks now.

We, nineteen Czech & Czechia based producers, are in unison against the aggressive occupation and invasion of a sovereign country of Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, Russian troops invaded Ukraine, masking the operation as a "peacekeeping mission”. On August 21, 1968, our country was also invaded by the Soviets and Warsaw Pact armies. The occupation lasted over four more decades.

Але хоч термін і запозичений, він цілком доречний — як щодо оригінальних експериментів учасників гуртів «Цукор – біла смерть», DZ'OB чи Yarn, так і щодо структурних композицій Hidden Element, Monoconda, ID_UA, які органічно почувалися в передовому музичному комʼюніті та намагалися залучити вітчизняну аудиторію до світового культурного контексту.

Tracking a personal and pivotal moment in his life, Rafael Anton Irisarri’s fateful album A Fragile Geography has shifted meanings from grief to resilience in the ten years since it was released. Irisarri’s mix for Bleep taps back into those initial feelings changed by time, highlighting glistening blankets of sound, gauzy chord sweeps, and romantic bittersweet swells amidst the swathes of blasting, folding harmonic noise. Ryuichi Sakamoto’s dreamily puffing organ chords waltz towards the swaying pendulum of piano on Bohren & Der Club Of Gore’s ‘Maximum Black’, revealing a jazz backing of noir drum shuffles. Mabe Fratti’s voice is soft and billowy like a cloud of perfume on her rework of ‘Hiatus’, dispersed by the privately reflective noise of Ethel Cain’s ‘Onanist’, both airily cushioning and sharply confronting.

“I made this mix for Bleep to celebrate the tenth anniversary and reissue of my album "A Fragile Geography". I structured the mix to mirror how grief moves through us. It's a haze of fragmented memories and emotions, drifting like smoke through dimly lit rooms with memory stained walls. Each song feels like a whispered thought, a fogged-up mirror, or a letter never sent. Some tracks feel soft and distant, while others hit a little harder. Grief doesn’t scream here; it sighs, loops, and lingers. Tape hiss, faint piano, distant voices, and time dissolved strings shape the sound. Протягом цього літа було дивне відчуття, що літо кудись тікає, а я не встигаю за ним, не можу як слід ним насолодитись. Тож, в цьому міксі зібрав багато сонячного груву з афріканським та тропічним вайбом, щоб було на чому дотягнути до наступного тепла. Як зазвичай, намішав свіженького та витриманого хаусу з 80-90х. Ближче до кінця є трек від загадкового українського продюсера під аліасом NEROBA, який ще не видано. Насолоджуємося разом! 

During this summer, there was a strange feeling that summer was running away somewhere, and I couldn't keep up with it and enjoy it properly. So, in this mix I collected a lot of sunny grooves with African and tropical vibes, so that there was something to hold on to until the next heat. As usual, I mixed fresh and well-seasoned house from the 80s-90s. Towards the end there is a track from a mysterious Ukrainian producer under the alias NEROBA, which has not yet been released. Let's enjoy it together!

Optimo Music Takeover: Iona Fortune - 26th January 2019

In the year 2002, Gusgus was touring the states with the new lineup and album Attention.  One of the tracks in the set was though a cover of old Human League track called "Things that dreams are made of".
