"Terre Rare S2–04 slips into a vapor-tensioned drift of buoyant pacing and retinal decay.
On the eve of his set for Evolvere x Stagno Records’ season-closing marathon, biju.biju_ steers a procession of lucid fragments—idm-shaped, slow-burning, effervescent. An elastic pace where duration thickens and pneumatic bubbles bloom, contract, and slip away.

In parallel, san_____dro composes a visual séance in long form. Informed by post-squat mythologies, magical codes, and cinematic residue, his images behave like sentient relics—layered, volatile, and on the verge of vanishing. 

A ritual of shared hallucination.

Frequencies fracture, memories disassemble. Unheard cadences and fluid impressions fuse, bending the 𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑒 into new forms. Vibrations rise, ancestral, synthetic, primal. Reverberations warp, surfaces melt, light and sound seep into each other, distorting perception. 
Season 2 deepens the convergence, expanding the threshold of experience."

SOUNDIT Festival Takeover - Perila - 10 Jul 2025

Few producers embody the contradictions of our era as viscerally as Pavel Milyakov, better known under his alias Buttechno (@buttechno). First emerging from underground with a body of work that oscillated between post-industrial techno and introspective ambient, Milyakov has since shifted his practice towards deeper sonic and conceptual terrains. Now based in Berlin, he operates equally as composer, collaborator, and cultural agitator — using music as a vessel to process historical trauma, collective memory, and the psychic toll of authoritarianism. Whether channelling harsh noise into haunted minimalism or scoring fractured rave anthems with meditative restraint, his output refuses easy categorisation. Across projects with artists like Bendik Giske, Lucas Dupuy, and Martyna Basta, as well as his PSY X label, Milyakov crafts spaces where vulnerability and resistance coexist.

As Buttechno, Milyakov continues to challenge what techno can hold: abrasive textures meet hypnotic repetition; dancefloor urgency meets political grief. His sets, like his productions, exist in a tension between euphoria and erosion — propulsive yet frayed, euphoric yet elegiac. A fierce opponent of neo-imperialist ideologies, Milyakov has used his platform to denounce war crimes, reroute funds toward humanitarian efforts, and elevate lesser-known voices from the margins. From early cult releases like "Eastern Strike" to his recent frost-laced "lost sounds" EP, his sonic language has grown expansive, intimate, and defiantly plural. In this week's mix, expect a deep and atmospheric set that not only moves bodies, but also challenges histories, offering not escape, but confrontation, communion, and transformation.

Dead Snakes Cold Tongues

Lancashire's sons of occult darkness push off into the night with the first in a triptych of spellbinding vinyl-only LP's. 'Forest Of Evil' is a direct elevation and expansion of the ideas expressed on the debut album, 'Symbiosis', literally breaking down multiple elements to run as two extended pices - one on each side, giving more scope to suck us into an abyssal vortex of inky blackness without interruption. The sides are themed as 'Dusk' and 'Dawn', entry and exit points for a trip where owt can happen in between. On the palindromic 'Dusk' tentative strings with one eye on Alice Coltrane imbue an astral sense of wonderment before plunging us head first into the cold water of elliptical percussion. With lungs and ears flooded we're churned in a current of Shackleton-esque percussion at the bottom of a tarn, high in the hills before returning to the coruscating strings on the surface. With 'Dawn' a battery of warlocks forge a martial tattoo, like Regis sent to the dark ages to live out his fantasies with a medieval drum circle. And then, out of nowhere, an ominous veil of layered strings emerges out of nothing to sweep us away with vintage elements and ghostly traces of sound last heard on the sublime last album from the Caretaker as quivering subbass tremors threaten to open the ground beneath the turntable. Approach this when under the influence of magic potions for maximum rewards... 

01 LOVE60 Demdike Stare Forest Of Evil Dusk

Demdike Stare return to the lab with two extended new productions, inaugurating a series of untamed releases brought together under the Testpressing banner. 'Collision' was recorded in late 2012 and is pretty much unlike anything you'll have heard from Demdike before, an intense high-frequency re-arrangement of Jungle and Noise, like a more brutal variant of the Demdike-affiliated HATE project, fed through a bank of analogue boxes and pedals, left to spin uncontrollably for 10 minutes before fading to black. 'Misappropriation' on the flip feeds off a different noise altogether, perched precariously between the mangled percussion you'd most commonly associate with Muslimgauze and the metallic clank of industry, a proper sunstroke riddim: angry and unforgiving.

So here we are at part two in the series : "Grows Without Bound" on the A-side is a monster; a noisy analogue session ressurected from the burning embers of Industrial and Noise, harnessed into an unstable growl that slowly makes room for a barely-there percussive stumble - think somewhere between Vainio and Nate Young. Over on the flipside "Primitive Equations" takes for inspiration the bare-boned, hyper-tense production of Photek's still devastating "Ni - Ten - Ichi - Ryu",  slugging out feral, steely noise and 'ardcore torque forged by calloused hands and burning minds to cruel, propulsive effect.

Proceeding missions into the no-mans-land of noise and jungle, Demdike Stare adopt a typically schizoid stance at House and Techno tempos on the 3rd Testpressing. Their A-side 'Eulogy' is a square bass devotional to the soul of deep Chicago and Detroit house, most notably the magic of Mr Fingers and Terrence Dixon. A constantly morphing, Escher-like bassline folds in and out of itself, accented with offset kicks and washed out with effervescent, barely-there synth strokes. It's lip-smacking sunset/sunrise gear and a perfect set-up for the flipside shocker. Destined to become a classic in Demdike's canon, 'Dyslogy' comes off like an early 'Waveform Transmission' or H&M bomb spanked by Anthony Shakir; an evil, droning intro ratchets the tension for martial kicks and darkcore chords before a feral breakbeat romps loose like the spirit of '93 unchained. They really don't make 'em like this any more…
