A wise man once said: “Make Italo Disco Great Again”.
His name was Guido Balboa.
From there, Romain FX, after having camped his studio at this Italian’s home for a
couple of years in Hong Kong, had an epiphany.
He made a track using this genius tagline on Boots & Legs from Australia and
wanted to take this phrase even further. And so this compilation was born.
Scouting unknown and more known talents, Romain would put together a
compilation full of cheesy goodness for dance-floors ready tunes right in time for
open-airs this summer of 21 after a long danceless year. For the first volume, A-team
guests were asked to partake in the adventure, we have Bijou, Franz Scala, Alberto
Melloni, Doctor, Berny, Daniele Monaco and Romain FX.
Expect cheese and more cheese.

Manchester mega human Black Eyes as well as rising stars Tom2Trax & Yootis plus we have something pretty amazing from the new mysterious new kid (or should that be kids?) on the block, the Yum Yum Club who team with Maria Uzor of Sink Ya Teeth for some pretty amazing scenes.

UK based DJ & Producer Darran P returns to Minor Notes with his first full artist offering. Into The Light EP kicks things off with a jazz drenched deep house vibe. This release contains 4 original tracks from Darran + 2 remixes from russian producers SIL and Tsktch.

Jazzmatazz is a low slung affair which veers off into darker territory mid-way through the rhythmic excursion. Next up is a track entitled ‘It Was All So Simple’ a sample-heavy 4/4 cut with elements of vibraphone peppering the mix to great effect. About A boy switches the tempo up slightly with a heavy beat-laden exotic sound which has a familiar vibe throughout. Finally, the EP finishes with Skyline Blvd, a track that has a hypnotic groove and a wandering baseline. The track was inspired by the drive along the pacific coast highway to San Francisco.

We are super happy to have this long awaited release on our board and push very different music which we are very inspired by.

PREMIERE : Darran P - Skyline Blvd (Tsktch Remix)

Summer may be over but you can keep the vibes alive with this new package from Hell Yeah. It revisits Max Essa's 'The Great Adventure' and serves it up with a couple of fresh remixes from the man of the moment My Friend Dario and a rare appearance from Balearic Gabba Sound System.

Back in 2020, 'The Great Adventure' was the name of an album that collected together all of Essa's tunes on this label, as well as being a single itself. It is a signature sound from the Balearic boss with tropical drum sounds and organic percussion. Airy drums ride on blissful waves with cosmic synths soundtracking the moment that afternoon turns to evening and the dance floor begins to fill up.

Next comes My Friend Dario, who is at the heart of the Balearic new wave thanks to his fresh takes on Nu Northern Soul and his upcoming album on Hell Yeah. He speeds things up and brings warm house grooves underneath the lush and expansive synths. It's a real bubbler with triumphant leads and plenty of Mediterranean magic.

Finally come the in-house Balearic Gabba Sound System crew to bring their fusion of Italo, acid, downtempo, disco and proto-house. It makes for a track of subtle euphoric intensity, always on the rise, powered by loose drum tumbles, snaking acid lines and awash with a rush of melodic joy.

This is a versatile package that offers plenty of different and equally delicious Balearic perspectives.

Spanish disco dreamer James Rod is back on Paper with some superb cosmic business.  The psychedelic artwork made by Fama de America is a good indicator of what's on the EP, out there aceness!

Belong City has a classic arpeggiated bass with effected guitar, 80s synths and crashing pads as it builds with heavy atmospherics. After the break, things are stripped things back as the bass follows a new progression but the the vibe stays. This is cosmic disco at its best and if you're a fan of DJ Harvey's sets, its for you.
