Victoria Mussi is one of the driving forces of the music scene in Paraguay, co-founder of the mighty nightclub ‘Tango’ in Asunción and the eclectic ‘Inbetween’ label. Inspired by the symmetry of urban & industrial aesthetics, she proposes a style spectrum where the classic components of house merge with the futuristic essence of techno in her sets and compositions. Her upcoming release is no exception. This June she is back with a brand new álbum titled ‘Phonology of Life’, containing 8 fresh & moving pieces that combine kicking grooves with crunchy, melodic soundcsapes. Soulful vocal components overlapping with warm melodic lines are present in almost every track, merging with pumping, percussive elements and soothing, crispy textures. The LP takes off with ‘The Funeral’ & ‘Transitions’, setting a a laid back atmosphere at the beginning, and then going on to a more intense mood with ‘X-Press’ and ‘Past Present Future’. The energy keeps on rising with ‘A Larger Size’, evolving into immersive atmospheres in ‘Palindromo’ & ‘Arena de Reloj’. The material decompresses with ‘Etcétera’, an ambient composition that brings the perfect ending to the whole journey. The release is set for June 21 on Victoria’s label Inbetween.

This EP stands out for having a complex melody and the use of chromatic chords underlining sequences, also for the soulful atmosphere of vocals and synths. In general, it doesn't reach a highlight during the song but it focuses more on being in a comfortable and relaxed sound.

Norwegian talent Kohib teases the release of his next album on Beatservice Records with a first single featuring the stunning vocals of Lydia Waits. Kohib is DJ, producer and club promoter Øivind Andersen Sjøvoll. He has been producing exquisitely formed and far-reaching music for two decades on labels including Beatservice, Paper and Sprechen. From the sweetest sunset soundtracks to throbbing dark-disco deviance, he has an expansive, hard to predict and difficult to define sound palette. That plays out across this first single which draws on downtempo, house and funk and is crafted on an array of vintage analog machines. Lydia Waits features on the fantastic 'Rhythm Cast A Spell On Me', and prominently on the forthcoming full length. Her voice brings an intimate sense of soul as the organic rhythms roll on. They're constructed from soft, rubbery drums, with clarinet and pianos, wooden hits and bubbling bass all making for something brilliantly steamy and humid. It's a track that feels live and loose and packed with seductive sound.
