For APDEXTRA017 we’re thrilled to welcome Hober Mallow to the Apparel Music family with his stunning four track EP called ‘Phased’. Lachlan Holland (his real name) is a DJ, a crate digger, producer and radio host from Sydney (AUS) but -above all- a great human being, that’s why we’re incredibly happy to introduce you to his latest work on our EXTRA catalogue. It is, in fact, a quite difficult task to describe what ‘Phased’ is about, being it a miscellaneous of sounds, stimulus, ideas but, even more, an accurate representation of Lachlan’s super versatile musical talent. The opening track ’I Believe It's Going Round’ is a mosaic of sounds with its tense strings always in the background, its dreamy melody, acid bassline, vocal samples and its solid rhythm section, everything washed down with an excellent Hober Mallow’s wine. The record continues with ‘Junk Twilight’ which is another mesmerising patchwork of styles; a mellow track filled with intricate musical embroidery which talks to the heart of Soul and House lovers but, generally, to everyone who’s desire is to discover something new, to listen to some contemporary and unique music. Getting to ’Pet Peeves’ we’re already short of words…Listening to these introspective, labyrinthine five minutes is a true journey into Hober’s mind. Ok never mind: we feel like it’s useless to try to formulate sentences about this track so we’ll just write down some keywords to give an impression of it: solid grooves, guitar skanks, choirs, silences, sinister atmospheres. Pet Peeves in an impressionistic painting. The closing track is also the title track: ‘Phased’, which is the perfect one to end the record in style, with some soothing and delicate harmonies adorned by some perfect vocal samples, a funky guitar and the usually perfect rhythmic loop. Phased by Hober Mallow is a gem which we’re incredibly proud of and it will be release on the 31st of May 2021.

Victoria Mussi is one of the driving forces of the music scene in Paraguay, co-founder of the mighty nightclub ‘Tango’ in Asunción and the eclectic ‘Inbetween’ label. Inspired by the symmetry of urban & industrial aesthetics, she proposes a style spectrum where the classic components of house merge with the futuristic essence of techno in her sets and compositions. Her upcoming release is no exception. This June she is back with a brand new álbum titled ‘Phonology of Life’, containing 8 fresh & moving pieces that combine kicking grooves with crunchy, melodic soundcsapes. Soulful vocal components overlapping with warm melodic lines are present in almost every track, merging with pumping, percussive elements and soothing, crispy textures. The LP takes off with ‘The Funeral’ & ‘Transitions’, setting a a laid back atmosphere at the beginning, and then going on to a more intense mood with ‘X-Press’ and ‘Past Present Future’. The musician, producer, vocalist, and music lover from German culture, Rubén Kielmannsegge, lead vocal of DYOR, guest at one of our recent showcase nights at Kater Blau, Berlin, was also the resident DJ in a project of the Spain's National Orchestra and Choir, in which he shared stage with contemporary music geniuses such as Max Richter, Philip Glass, Arvo Pärt and Francesco Tristano."

He's worked with/for artists like Quantic , Sofi Hellborg & Tony Allen , Dusty, Mojo Project, Miguel Bosé or Luz Casal. His tunes appear in international compilations such as Hôtel Costes 7. His productions also appear in films, such as Mi Vida sin Mí by Isabel Coixet, which received a Goya award for Humans Like You as best original song.

LeoNanazzo & Mishouju link to great effect for a fantastic new EP on Sinchi that comes backed with big remixes from Man Power and Timothy Clerkin.

Once again this is a non-profit release, this time raising money for the Sinchi Foundation, which upholds the UN’s declaration on the rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) with an emphasis on the right to self-determination and the protection of indigenous lands.

This superb collaboration between the two producers came about after they met at a gig in Bangkok. Leo Nanazzo is a Bangkok based, Tunisian born musician who is trained in traditional Tunisian instruments and started making and selling beats to high school rappers aged 16. He then moved into techno and put out his first music in 2018 with Oxytech Limited.

Mishouju lives and performs in Hanoi, Vietnam, having been born in Belarus. He is co-founder of intercultural creative association and record label homebprod, and part of the Buddha Electronics project. He is an avid record collector and is passionate about electro, microhouse, techno and acid, and graduated from Monocat,an Ableton production school run by Methodical, before starting to perform in 2018. This fine fusion of styles - with Mishoujou influenced by breakbeat and electro, and Leo more techno focused - creates something new and unique.

First to remix is Man Power, the Me Me Me label boss with a hard to define, far reaching sound that takes in many styles and has seen
him release on the likes of ESP Institute and Correspondent. His version is a slow motion chugger, with scintillating drums and percussion shimmering in the darkness. Majestic melodies rise up through the mix and help make this a truly astral trip.
