Following on from releasing on the various artists compilation on 3024 - “It Was Always There Vol 1”, Planète returns with a long awaited 4 track exploring new territories and sound landscapes.

Shuffling away from straight grooves of earlier muses, Planète takes time to explore the irregular pulses of broken beat rhythms whilst maintaining introspective colour on this new EP. Central to the messages in his explorations, "Eternal Now" represents a reconfiguration of sonic interpretation and reflection.

Opener 'Stony Creek Reserve' rattles and throbs, consuming a poly-rhythmic bass bedrock and dubbed stabs with crisp and glitched crackles whilst 'Passing Through' lightens the deep with a skipping kick drum and memorable percussion melodies guided by an anchored bass hit.

On the flip, echoing and spooky wooden hits fill the terrain whilst stark bass movements in 'Meteor' rain and mutate a broken techno groove. Closing up, allowing the energy to release, 'Eternal Now' gives rise to vast space in reverberated strikes and wobbled stabs under the hood of slow thuds and thin hisses.

This return shows versatility and growth in sonic descriptions, edging towards a bridge of found sounds and clinical club music. His latest contribution shows the breadth and current appetite for bass centric curations and meticulous high frequency attention refining his signature for evolving storytelling.

Electronic artist and producer Leifur James releases ‘Run’.

'In between records I like to release some of my weirder work.. Music that doesn't necessarily fall in an album context. Run was written in 2020 and probably connects to that time, it felt right to start releasing again where I left off. This track was written in the same era as Sirens on the B side.. There's an escapist quality and warmth to both, I think? I find myself travelling with this work, movement - there's no real conclusion or destination to it, but it's going somewhere, in transition, opening up... Run.' - Leifur James

Daniel Avery + Alessandro Cortini - Illusion Of Time

I’m proud to present Illusion Of Time, an LP made in collaboration with Alessandro Cortini out 27th March on Phantasy/Mute. I’ve been a huge admirer of Alessandro’s work for many years and this project was every bit as inspiring as I knew it would be. The experience felt unique in that much of the recording process was done remotely - we were both touring heavily at the time - sending each other care packages of beautiful noise from various parts of the world. Waking up in different time zones, different cities to something new was always a total rush. We were able to finish the record together in New York whilst on the Nine Inch Nails tour, the luminous context of which feels very fitting for an album we’ve given our hearts to at every stage. The album was mixed by Marta Salogni, the artwork designed by Planet Luke and the video for the title track (which is online today) directed by Tom Andrew and Sam Davis; we surrounded ourselves with masters.
