Parisian imprint Lumière Noire continue to navigate the liminal zones of sound art and club culture with their second 4-track various artists compilation 'Flash Vol. 2'. Our pick is the final offering 'H00V' from Frankfurt-based producer Lauer - a track that doesn’t so much announce itself as crash in through the side door. Screen composer Thomas Ross Fitzsimons makes a modular debut with The Planets Vol. 1 — a bold first step into experimental electronic music. An immersive debut of atmospheric soundscapes, pulsing rhythms and immersive, slow-burning textures that invites listeners to tune in, drift out, and orbit something greater.
Best known for his emotionally rich scores for film and television, the British-Australian composer now turns to tactile electronics, blending hands-on synthesis, astrological themes and cinematic instinct. Fitzsimons’ recent credits includeChannel4/Universal/NBC’s Everyone Else Burns and the Krakow Film Festival award-winning documentary The Cathedral. Now based in London, he shifts focus to modular synthesis, trading orchestral palettes for patch cables and voltage-controlled tones.
Originally a personal experiment, The Planets Vol. 1 evolved into a fully realised concept. Drawing on early 20th-century astrologer Alan Leo, whose planetary profiles famously guided Gustav Holst’s The Planets, Fitzsimons translates each celestial archetype into modular sound, shaping distinct emotional environments through texture and tone.

Mercury, a track built around Leo’s description of the planet as “the planet of adaptation.” Flickering textures and abrupt shifts create a fast-moving piece that captures Mercury’s instability and mental velocity through morphing tonal colours and unpredictable structure.
