About the cd:
A superb surprise episode for 041 in the series. Massive thanks to Nick Sneddon for sending over some epic CDs recently. We are really happy to feature more downtempo CDs... it feels like the recovery soundtrack to countless nights clubbing and those sun kissed days that followed (well maybe not so much if you grew up in the UK).

Considering this came out in 1996, it features some simply gorgeous deep house and laid back electronic which go onto cement why DJ Harvey is a cult dj amongst fans and fellow spinners. It's a pleasure not just remember my own collection, but have other people send in theirs. And it's even better discovering that there's hundreds of other classics out there which need to be shared with everyone. Thanks again for the good vibes.

029 - Late Night Sessions mixed by DJ Harvey (1996)

This hybrid DJ / Live Set was recorded in a yurt structure at the Freerotation Festival in Wales. This time my idea for the set was to take us all much further out, much deeper inside than the set from last year. A more disembodied experience. 

As I had done last year, I sat on the floor in front of the speakers to perform instead of behind them as a DJ normally does. This greatly enhanced my feeling of experiencing the set with the audience, dissolving the usual performer / audience divide. 
Below is the list of tracks that I played in addition to live improvisation using a eurorack modular system.

Archives, a regular series presenting the sound of DJs and artists at Moment events, is proud bring you our 11th installment, featuring festival resident DJ Senoh's beautifully placed set from Saturday afternoon. 
Following 4 hours of ambient vibes from the early morning, DJ Senoh's chill selections blended seamlessly with the mood of the day. As the set built momentum, Senoh's rhythmical and groovy side came through with track after track of smile-inducing, body-moving cuts. From the very beginning, DJ Senoh had everyone dancing under a cloudless sky in the warming mountain sunlight, smiling from ear to ear. It's a memory we won't soon forget!

Nao, the resident at rural, has been touring Europe, the U.S., and Latin America with us this year. In this year at rural, She was in charge of the late night time slot. Her shimmering set was transforming with the floor, organically harmonized with the space lit up in extreme colors with beautiful flowers, leading people into a deep hypnotic state. Lose yourself in her techno-based set, a blend of diverse sounds that overflows with her unique style.

Kugel is a transformative force in Seoul's electronic music landscape. Her sonic journey weaves through a rich tapestry of genres, with a particular affinity for psychedelic and cosmic electronic elements. Each set is an improvised narrative, where she masterfully balances deep, dark textures with playful, eccentric selections, creating an immersive experience that resonates uniquely with each audience.

Her musical metamorphosis began during her studies in Germany, where an encounter with the underground scene sparked a profound artistic awakening. What started as a self-described monochromatic existence transformed into a vibrant pursuit of musical storytelling. This pivotal experience revealed music's universal language and its power to forge instant, meaningful connections.

Since her 2018 debut, Kugel has established herself as a cornerstone of Seoul's electronic music community. Her three-year residency (2021-2024) at Tunnel in Itaewon became a laboratory for developing her distinctive dialogue with dancers. As the curator of 'Weird Circle', a bi-monthly event series at Club Nyapi, she has created a platform for introducing avant-garde sounds to Seoul's discerning audiences.

Her artistic reach extends well beyond Korea's borders, with performances at prestigious international events including The Air House Festival (Korea), The Phu Quoc Odyssey NYE Festival by Studio Adventure Collective (Vietnam), and the renowned Rainbow Disco Club (Japan). These appearances showcase her evolution from local talent to regional tastemaker, each set further cementing her reputation for crafting hypnotic, genre-defying musical journeys.

Through her masterful selection and intuitive understanding of dancefloor dynamics, Kugel continues to push boundaries and challenge expectations, establishing herself as a vital voice in Asia's electronic music landscape.

For our opening mix, we’re delighted to share a recent Steam Room session with the Bangkok-based selector and producer Sunju Hargun. 

For two hours, he delivered a masterclass of immersive, deep and psychedelic techno. And true to style, the set is a seamless flow of intricate rhythms and subtly shifting textures, shadowy grooves and pulsating basslines.  

This mix was mastered in the Area52 Studio.
