The first EP from Albert’s Favourites’ synth-production duo Modified Man focuses on; analogue sounds, throwing out heavy editing, recording music with as few processes as possible and grabbing performances as single takes.

Modifications: Set 1 is a diverse set of tracks recorded over the last 18 months as Dave Koor and Scrimshire found their feet, writing together for the first time.

Among these six tracks we have Modification 1, the very first step into this new project, the first composition and experiment. Every part of this track was made as live. Even down to Scrimshire manipulating the tape echo on Dave Koor’s Rhodes solo as an integral part of the solo, each responding to the other. This set out the concept for all that came after.

Alongside it you will find broken beats (Questionable Things, System Is Fatal) a deep, deep Cobham cover (Stratus), some overloaded, synth-bass-down-tempo weirdness (Hythe Path) and bubbling, ambient soundscaping (Fractus).

'Kingswood Drive' is the new release from synth-production duo Modified Man, and it's out next week on their own label Albert's Favourites. It's an early teaser of their next EP, due out in April. We're premiering the title track which is a gorgeous, celestial analogue jam. The beats are as broken as they are soulful, but the whole thing is underpinned by this serene sort of energy.

@modified-man is Dave Koor, a prolific keyboard player who is part of The Expansions, Hector Plimmer and Andrew Ashong’s live bands too, as well as having played improvisations with Yussef Kamaal. And Adam Scrimshire who cut his teeth with his own solo project 'Scrimshire' and runs the Wah Wah 45s record label, which is home to Dele Sosimi, The Milk, Resonators and Paper Tiger.

We've got the premiere of "Croydon Rooftop Cafe Culture" A broken chip tune jazz-funk oddessy. Brimming with influences of Dam-Funk, Herbie Hancock or Bugz In The Attic, this jittery, vibrant & playful track is a showcase for the sound of South London, as is the whole EP.

'Set 3 from Modified Man brings another diverse bunch of tracks together with bubbling basslines, sizzling, expansive synth sounds and heavy, broken and percussive beats. 

Blame’s On You Bruv, combines their signature synth bounce with broken beats via some classic UK two-step vibes, and is the first time we’ve heard a (human) voice on their records. 

Glass Army is way more direct, bringing grouchy beats and bass up to a euphoric disco/house jam before delivering an emotional final punch. 

Hear Me Calling is 808 gospel music, still nodding at the duo’s broken beat influences. Big, bass heavy, uplifting dance music. 

The rest of the EP continues to deliver the bizarre twists and turns, and sense of humour we’ve come to expect from the South London pair. Bumpy, atmospheric, spacious and jazz influenced in equal measures.

Artwork once again comes from a unique piece of plasticine art created by Tim Easley. This piece itself has been gaining love and attention with massive design authorities and tech sites from Creative Review to Engadget! '

It is hard to describe Maciek „Envee” Goliński in just few sentences. He started to produce music in late 20th and cooperated with so many musicians that we don't even have enough space to introduce all of them.

You may also recognize Envee from remixes for well-known worldwide imprints - Compost, Jazz & Milk, Sonar Kollektiv, Wah Wah 45, GAMM and many more. „Time & Light” finally shows his exceptional, mulit-genre talent on a complex release.

Many of his favourite arists took part in creating 'Time & Light' album.
