I carry a fixation with the chorus since a long time. Maybe because of this, it was inevitable somehow that this concept ran throughout my album listening and also did the reflections that wakened from it. By chorus I mean a group of people that generates a joint action. The chorus leads us to meet or to split, shaping melodic and waving sequences. It made us breathe all in all, connect, look at each other, but also feel. To feel the rhythm, to feel the pause, to feel the silence and each voice, each layer -or track in this case- that is building the chorus.
I believe that understanding the compilation of Woman in Power (WIP) Vivas, Libres y Unidas as a chorus allows us to generate an extended, wider vision; a vision which eludes the review of the technical and virtuous -about which knowledgeable people could expand on during a large period- a vision that seeks to unite and to articulate the diverse voices that form this great chorus. A chorus which is felt from the literal/vocal in the overlapping voices appearing off and on, as well as the echoes of the beats. Nevertheless, I invite you to understand, to sense and to feel this album brought by WIP as a brilliant chorus, as one voices net in which each track is one voice; one voice that if we want to, we can listen to by itself, but also that we can understand in connection with the other tracks, with the other voices, as a whole; a great heterogeneous chorus, sounding and dissonant facing the mainstream; a chorus that also tosses our bodies deep inside. It tosses us because it makes us feel part of the chorus itself, as the chorus unavoidable comes together with the collective. It is from the inside of the collective that a non-linear path shows up, a path naturally choral. With it we raise, fall and hold on, as sea waves that expand, retreat, explode, get calm and come back.
The choral path of the album operates as metaphor of the perseverance of the feminist fight, the political aspect and the pursuit of other strategies for this fight. This has everything to do with the form, with the quest to spread an idea, to declaim and to demand, not only through the literal of the content but also through the form. In the form, in the means of production the political aspect can be found, Argentinian Lola Proaño-Gómez tells us; and a concrete example of this is the musical jewel that WIP is providing us with. A fight for our rights, our complaints, our demands from the music, but above all, from the collective point, from the chorus that strongly rises with the slogan ALIVE, FREE AND UNITED we want us, and that we will not back up.

Emmerichk - Echo Around 101

Mexican producer Emmerichk pleases us with a second release for Modismo catalog after releasing ‘Sleepy HZ’ (2019) and adding a track that same year to the third volume of the compilation ‘Chile No está en Guerra.’ His new EP offers us four extensive compositions that in their first line immerses us in a delightful Dub Techno trip which pays tribute to the classic Drum Machine 808 of Roland. Soon, collisions over analog tape increase tension that later on is released with resounding rhythms provided by the second track. Echo Around 101 keeps a calm environment to then ratchet things up during one of the most unnerving moments of this work. With a musical trajectory of almost three decades, this talented musician and producer has sustained a highly notorious place in national and international record labels. Always avoiding common places, Emmerichk can be spotted among great talented musicians within the contemporary Latin-American electronic genre, as it is well revealed in Odyssey Stabs, the track that overwhelmingly completes his work. This is an album with flawless sound that carries German musician Pole’s legacy and takes it to more intense and robust fields where abstraction is loaded by vital and contagious energy.

El productor mexicano Emmerichk nos deleita con una segunda entrega para el catálogo de Modismo, luego de "Sleepy HZ" (2019), y de sumar ese mismo año un tema al tercer volumen del contingente recopilatorio "Chile No está en Guerra". Su nuevo EP nos ofrece cuatro extensas composiciones que en su primera línea nos sumerge en una delicioso viaje Dub Techno que rinde tributo a la clásica Drum Machine 808 de Roland. Luego colisiones sobre cinta análoga aumentan la tensión, que luego se libera con los rotundos ritmos que ofrece el segundo corte. Echo Around 101 mantiene el ambiente calmo, para luego intensificar las cosas en uno de los momentos más inquietantes de este notable trabajo. Con una trayectoria musical que ya pisa tres décadas, este talentoso músico y productor ha mantenido un altísimo vuelo en sellos adentro y afuera de su país. Siempre esquivando los lugares comunes, Emmerichk puede ser ubicado entre los grandes talentos de la electrónica latinoamericana actual, como bien lo demuestra Odyssey Stabs, corte que cierra esta obra de forma contundente. Un disco de sonido impecable, que toma el legado del alemán Pole, y lo lleva a terrenos más intensos y robustos, en los que la abstracción se carga de una energía vital y contagiante.

Alberto Bone - Presente distópico

Modismo very proudly presents its second release of 2022, adding to its catalog talented Chilean musician Alberto Bone, young artist from quiet rural areas that surround the capital city. Relocated to post-pandemic Valparaíso, Bone's music found its natural flow towards Modismo's headquarters, partly thanks to his outstanding participation in "Mala Memoria V", National Electronic Music Contest organized by Museo De La Memoria y Los Derechos Humanos. “Presente Distópico” works as a brief experiential account of the Covid-19 pandemic. In just 17 minutes, Alberto Bone reveals his experiences around isolation and information overload to shape that disturbing scenario in four forceful compositions. On a formal level, Bone is a composer, bassist, arranger and music producer. He wisely incorporates the experience of his formal studies in music composition to transform the songs on his EP into a rewarding adventure. The brief minute of this work is very well used, as many interesting things happen during this quarter of an hour. Power of synthesis, harmonic mastery and rhythmic effectiveness serving four pieces that condense hard times and that we have had to face and deal with in this dystopian present. A beginning that greets the end of times and the moments of infinite complications that made the soul heavy. The load of stimuli and information that we suffer is loyally reflected in "Tension", which works as a dystopian climax. However, Bone apparently has not lost faith yet. He gives hope and celebrates the liberation during the luminous closing of this recommendable debut.

Alberto Bone - Presente distópico

Modismo presenta con orgullo su segundo lanzamiento del 2022, introduciendo a su catálogo el talento del músico chileno Alberto Bone. Jovén artista proveniente de las plácidas zonas rurales que rodean la urbe capitalina. Relocalizado en Valparaíso post-pandemia, la música de Bone encontró su curso de flujo natural hasta los cuarteles centrales de Modismo, en parte, gracias a su destacada participación en “Mala Memoria V”, Concurso Nacional de Música Electrónica organizado por el Museo De La Memoria y Los Derechos Humanos. “Presente Distópico” funciona como un breve recuento vivencial de la pandemia de Covid-19. En sólo 17 minutos Alberto Bone destila sus experiencias en torno al aislamiento y la sobrecarga de información para cuajar ese inquietante escenario en cuatro contundentes composiciones. En el plano formal Bone es compositor, bajista, arreglador y productor musical. Con sabiduría incorpora la experiencia de sus estudios formales en composición musical para transformar las canciones de su EP en una gratificante aventura. El breve minutaje de este trabajo está muy bien aprovechado, pues pasan muchas cosas interesantes durante este cuarto de hora. Poder de síntesis, dominio armónico y efectividad rítmica puesta al servicio de cuatro piezas que condensan los duros tiempos que hemos tenido que enfrentar y abordar en este presente distópico. Un inicio que saluda el final de los tiempos, y a los momentos de complicaciones infinitas que volvían pesada el alma. La carga de estímulos e información que padecemos está fielmente reflejada en “Tensión”, que funciona como un clímax distópico. Pero Bone al parecer no pierde aún la fé, y alimenta la esperanza y celebra la liberación en el lumínico cierre de este recomendable debut.

Review "Girls Alive"
Just a few days away from the conmemoration and annual women's celebration for their rights' equity, from the sky falls the new compilation from Modismo label, entitled "Girls Alive", which draws together music composers and producers of mystical will who explore, amuse and spruce up with a free-download musical offering. It is, indeed, a spectrum of very well achieved and diverse sonorous pieces.
Loaded with defying finesse and neatness these musicians embalm the air via their wavy machinery. There is wisdom behind this musical trip's jolliest passages. And life, a lot of life in the fertile sequences of this work which, all through its eclectic extent, masterfully demonstrates how to balance experimentation and gamble with a sublime and deferential treatment to the ear. Maybe it is an ancestral and female secret the power music has to interconnect us. But the more you plunge in "Girls Alive", the more assured you are that this secret is hidden in good hands.
From and towards the most lulling and deep unto the most stimulating and intriguing that this new release from the netlabel Modismo delivers us we cannot do anything but smile and be thankful for each one of the female presences around us, chiefly when they decide to unite and give strenght, love and music.
