First up is the man @SQUIRCULUS  -  A soon to be household name, is the badman DJ hailing from shady Deland, FL responsible for co-founding Orlando's premier niche club nights Affiliate and Depth Charge. With over 50 years in the mix, he has had the opportunity, nay, the HONOUR to open up for legends such as @OmUnit, @Machinedrum, DJ Music, @maladmz, @fixate_uk, Acid Cat, @ClydeAvery, and others.  Whether he's dropping names or dropping beats, this eclectic vinyl connoisseur will be dropping something soon in a town near you.

This is an all vinyl mix for the heads, and for those who like their dubstep deep.

In April 2021, Auraz fka Goldfinger created the Moving Futures Music imprint manifesting a sound distinctly inspired by Florida's landscape. Blending the sound of the soothing ocean, tropical fauna and vibrant cities into an emotional, bass heavy sonic palette with a conscious vibe.

MM002 - Auraz  [Moving Futures Music]

Modūl Mix 003 comes to us from the man XMSN, who's been a fixture in the Jacksonville Drum & bass scene.   He threw down a wicked set to much praise back in April 2021 at our Drum & Bass Night event (before it was called Modūl).  This mix is a perfect representation of the energy Chris brings to the shows when he's on the decks at either his Invasive Ceremonies events, live stream channel, Modūl, or anywhere else.  Welcome to the mix XMSN.

XMSN made is first appearance DJing in 2015 at his weekly Drum and Bass event called ‘Worknight Sessions’ which ran for over a year.  He’s been a fixture in the Jacksonville D&B scene in many ways, whether it’s throwing the event himself or helping support and back other local events through promotions.  He also created a live stream called ‘Invasive TV’ in an effort to help promote local talent.  Sharing in the same, he recently founded Invasive Ceremonies which is a live event aimed at promoting multi genre DJs and local art.  Give XMSN a follow and check out his social links below.

MM003 - XMSN  [Invasive Ceremonies]

We're absolutely stoked to present Modūl Mix 004, which comes to us from the man Re:Son.  A true veteran of turntablism, wrapped into a long time love affair with hip-hop and drum and bass, Grath's style is that of true a craftsman.  Welcome to the mix Re:Son.

This is Garth- aka Re:Son

I grew up in a musical family and I started playing drums when i was about 6. My parents got me a little toy drum set for Christmas. I loved it. I wore it out. Because my parents both played in a band, there was access to a real drum set, so I started practicing pretty regularly.

As a kid in the 80s, hip hop was everywhere. A lot of the songs were sample-based, so it was real drums in the breaks. I practiced playing drums a lot by playing along to the songs with drum breaks. I had Mahogany down cold. Drum sounds in general always caught my attention. 

I started college in 1993 and clubs were starting to book more DJs and electronic acts. Seeing a DJ spin records was another immediate hook, like drums. There was also so much new music coming out, and, again, the songs with breaks were the stand outs. Faster breakbeat and then chopped-up amen breaks. More. 

And bass. Low bass. Punchy bass. Weird wobbly bass. Loud, disgruntled bass.

I had a roommate the summer of ’96 and he had turntables. I got on one day and was in immediately. Drumming really helped timing and counting measures. 

I started buying records that summer and got my own pair of 1200s not too long after. We had a solid record shop in Tallahassee (Vinyl Fever), and the guys ordering records were DJs, too, so there were some great records coming around. I played consistently in Tallahassee, FL and regionally for a while as EKO21.

I finished up school and moved to Jacksonville in '99. Me and future wife didn’t really go out a lot for a while, but I do remember seeing Roni Size and the full Represent band at Plush around 2000. Really dope show. Ask Jeff about it sometime. He was there. He seent it!

I kept buying records. Kept practicing. Started seeing the march of time moving away from vinyl, but with options. Started using Re:Son- my middle name is Reese- It’s Reese, son.

So, now I’m the old dude at the club. Fuck. But I still like spinning. And technology has made everything 1000% more dope and fun.

DnB music also seems to be going through a really dope time, too. It’s funny to see people talk about it as next big thing about to blow up.

It’s really the end result of everything.

It’s a beautiful melody that plane-crashes into the side of a mountain. It’s meticulous precision coupled with drippy soul.

The sparse. The thick. Relentless and effervescent. Absolute disgust with a spritz of lemon. Beauty. I love beats and bass. I love DnB!

Modūl Mix 004 comes to us from our brother from another mother,  @illsic904.  A true hip-hop head iLLSic recently was bit by the Drum & Bass bug.  From his past time in recording studios as mix engineer to the his most recent venture to the decks, his sets weave through both DnB and hip-hop seamlessly.  Catch him at a Modūl or Invasive Ceremonies show, and you're definitely in for a killer set.  Welcome to the mix iLLSic.

What’s good!? It’s your boy, Jose, aka iLLSiC. I was born in Managua, Nicaragua and I immigrated to the United States at a young age. I lived in Jacksonville, Florida the majority of my life and Southern hip hop had a huge influence on me. 

In high school I started making beats for the homies to rap over and throughout the years taught myself the basics on a keyboard and drums. I eventually took courses to learn music theory, recording and mixing techniques. 

I was lucky enough to intern at a few recording studios and learned basic front of the house engineering for live performances. However, most of my time was spent recording and mixing in a professional studio. After the internships, I worked freelance at a few recording studios and spent 6 years working in radio broadcasting as a producer and board operator. 

In 2020 I started DJing with a couple of friends. Later that year I bought a XDJ-RX2 and I have been DJing ever since. I started with hip hop tracks but eventually got into drum and bass. So far, every DJing gig I’ve had was promoted as a drum and bass/bass music gig, so I think I’m a drum and bass DJ now. ☺

Birth of DJ K8
As a child Katie was surrounded by her singer/songwriter father’s influence. Hearing music on a daily basis it infused music in her blood. As an older child she played in band but preferred to enjoy music as a listener not creator.

At the age of 13 in 1993 her brother DJ TCORREY brought home records and two turntables and life was never the same musically. After moving home to pursue a career in music business management, Katie was soaked by a resurgence of
electronic music in her life. Still at that point satisfied with being behind the scenes Katie became a “bedroom dj”. Finally after the urging of her brothers and friends Katie spent real time inside the studio and the rest is history.

K8 has become versed in multiple genre’s of electronic music.  Flexibly playing Breakbeat, House, and Drum and Bass. K8’s true passion is in Liquid Drum and Bass. Anything with a rolling bassline, vocals, and licking hi-hat is where K8 finds her home.

Katie moved home to Orlando in April 2011 put in tireless efforts showing support and love to multiple nights being hosted across Orlando. In April of 2012 she started hosting SceneOrlando LIVE. A monthly show at Bikurri Sushi Lounge
featuring every genre of electronic music as well as local talent. Which is now held at the famous Spacebar in the Milk District of Orlando.

In 2017 K8 relocated to Michigan where she relauched Halcyon Radio at WLNS, and has since played several venues there, and made the step up to headliner. Headlining shows in Lansing, Grand Rapids, Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg as well as opening for Sam Binga and playing shows with the likes of Goldie.

Ulterior Motives are proud to present a fresh set of versions derived from DJ Persuasion’s Moon Blues (Get Ill).

Dev/Null and Tim Reaper bring a dark, grime-inspired drum & bass workout to the track, featuring razor-sharp breaks and a late-night urban atmosphere.
Liftin’ Spirits (aka Ant Miles of Origin Unknown), donning his Ironic pseudonym for the first time in many years, provides a rolling VIP that stays close to the original but elevates it.
Friske, one of the most enigmatic artists in drum & bass today, who has remained firmly under the radar despite collaborations with artists like Goldie, offers a reflective, refined rendition reminiscent of Subject 13 and Arctix.
In addition to the three remixes, Persuasion adds a new track, Marked, which rounds off the EP with fierce drums and the “Demon Poetry” sample that inspired the NTS Radio show of the same name.
