“This mix was recorded digitally and on vinyl in wintery Zürich. It features past and present favourites of mine, as well as future sounds I wish to take the direction of my music into. It is inspired by some of the great memories I had in 2022. I was very lucky to work with many artists that have influenced me for a long time, and I was overjoyed by the moments created together with my friends on project indigo. As 2023 comes around, I hope to continue experiencing these special times.”

This summer a big dream came true for me. I got the chance to play at the most beautiful festival, Waking Life, for one of my all time favourite crews, Giegling. It still feels super unreal to me 🤪 Having had the chance to put out this magical 3h journey alongside so many of my musical idols was incredibly overwhelming. VRIL is one of the most reliable artists in techno. He emerged with a style that was his own and has pretty much stuck to it ever since. Eight years after his debut, that loopy, dubby take on the genre sounds as vital as ever, and most often comes on labels like Delsin, Dystopian and Giegling. A live set from the German is just as floor facing and effective. It will veer from deeper moments of intensity to trippy, off kilter drum patterns that are designed to keep you moving. 

Here he serves up a perfectly mix that syncs perfectly with the changing season: it’s all warm and cuddly from the off, with cosy dub techno cocooning you in an inviting sound world that slowly transitions into more twisted and straight up techno. Whether the drums are thumping or laying more horizontal, there is an absorbing intensity to VRIL's work that proves he is someone who has a real mastery of his art.
