EMEX is the latest project from Modular Expansion, marking the reunion of George Apergis and Alex Retsis after eight years. Together, they've developed EMEX Live in an entirely new dimension. This release features two techno tracks with a classic old-school flavor, recorded during the EMEX Live performance at the Phygital Audiovisual event. Phygital, an immersive experience curated by Modular Expansion, was supported by the Greek Ministry of Culture and the National Opera. Held at the Castle of Rio, the event showcased live audiovisual performances that blended digital and physical instruments.

Hakkon was born in Logroño, La Rioja, Spain, and is currently based in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. Substencia est une musicienne, productrice et DJ basée à Paris. Son parcours mélomane l'a rapidement amenée à s'impliquer dans la scène électronique sous diverses formes : labels, webzines et organisation d'événements. Depuis 2017, elle crée des productions musicales techno industrielle sombre, infusées de beaucoup de cinématiques, collages, sons noise, sorties sur plusieurs EP, compilations et remixes sur des labels comme Instinkt, Coup, Subverted, Culture of Violence, Durch, Drec, ou encore le label suédois Kallkällan où elle a sorti en 2022 son troisième EP soutenu par de nombreux artistes internationaux.

Très personnelle et instinctive, son approche de la musique s'est développée au fil des années par une pratique et une écoute constantes. Musique industrielle pure, dark ambient, techno old school UK et musique baroque : ses nombreuses influences donnent à ses sets une dimension cinématographique, organique et intense. Depuis 2021, elle fait partie du duo post-industriel noise Kabocha, qui vient de sortir son premier EP, Human Exceptionalism sur son propre label et a commencé à se produire en live. Elle a également fondé le webzine Rust.

Modular Expansion was founded by George Apergis and has run successfully, since 1998. The name “Modular Expansion” is inspired from the first analog modular synthesizers of which different parts were connected between each-other, forming an expansion.Modular Expansion is a cultural body of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and has to its credit actions with the auspices and financial support of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Athens. Actions such as vinyl releases, art videos and publishing events. He is also a European Design Award holder, Silver Award in 2016 in the category Music & Films Covers. Modular Expansion have events in a lot of European cities and famous places like Berghain, Tresor, Suicide, Sisyphos, Renate, Birgit in Berlin, also in cities like London, Rome, Barcelona, Sofia, Warsaw, Moscow, Tel Aviv and at the most prestigious places in Athens.

Modular Expansion is one of the first teams which started organizing Techno events in Athens in 1998. In the end of the 90s began to host artists from the labels such as Tresor, Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, presenting the Berlin underground music vibe and making techno popular in the Greek capital. Founder of Modular Expansion known as George Apergis performs already in 2002 at the legendary Tresor in Berlin. Counting in his history more than 1000 events and hundreds of guest artists like Adam Beyer, The Advent, Alexander Kowalski, Truncate, Ø [Phase], Schwefelgelb, Yanamaste, Parallx, Philipp Strobel, Psyk, dj Rolando, Monoloc, Drumcell, Brian Sanhaji, Radial, Substance, Vainqueur, Johannes Volk, Funk D Void, Dave Tarrida, Sender Berlin, Kevin De Vries, Subjected and many more belongs in one of the oldest teams in the city of Athens
