George Apergis is an established techno DJ, with a career of more than 20 years. He is a member of analog techno group EMEX and the founder of Modular Expansion & Modulation Εvents.
His releases “Quelle” and “Ekhowax”, were highly successful and have been supported from worldwide artists like Juan Atkins, Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Marcel Dettmann, Nina Kraviz, Chris Liebing, Dubfire, Ben Sims, The Advent and Tommy Four Seven to name but a few. George Apergis music has been remixed by international artists like Truncate, Zadig, Dave Tarrida, Johannes Volk, NX1 and Lee Holman. His latest project is the techno live act EMEX (alongside Alex Retsis) whose debut vinyl got immense support from artists like Rødhåd, Drumcell, Developer, Jonas Kopp, Bas Mooy, Pfirter and many others. The EMEX debut release’s success resulted in a live performance at the legendary Berghain and Tresor clubs in Berlin. He is also active in a “VS” side-project with Alex Retsis, and together they have released several tracks on Modular Expansion and other international labels.
Since 2013, Apergis curates the “Modular Expansion Podcast” series that features a premier list of international artists and received widespread recognition.
He is DJ-ing exclusively with vinyl and has performed in events alongside Adam Beyer, Terence Fixmer, Truncate, Ø [Phase], Drumcell, Shifted, Psyk, dj Rolando, dj Bone, Alan Oldham, Dj Pete, Alexander Kowalski, Carl Cox, Funk D Void and many others. George Apergis has also performed in many clubs in Europe, such as the legendary old Tresor in 2002 and new in 2014, and the list includes also clubs like Sisyphos, Suicide Circus, Plak, Scandale in Berlin, Moog and Macarena in Barcelona, clubs in Rome, Warsaw, Moscow and the most prestigious clubs & festivals in Greece.

VOLPHONIE gets off to a blazing start with a special vinyl and digital combo pack. Chris Honorat is considered somewhat of a stalwart, where his impact on the Paris scene can be dated back to early 90’s radio and working at Laurent Garnier’s USA Import record shop. A seven year residency at the legendary Rex Club proves his pedigree, but as a producer has releases on A-TRACTION, Kevin Saunderson’s KMS and Get Physical to name only a few.

Another idolised and highly regarded fellow, Scan X puts forth new original material for his Alien Symphony EP. With a back catalogue that includes Skryptöm, Harthouse, Stephan Bodzin’s Herzblut, and two critically acclaimed albums on Laurent Garnier’s F Communications, it’s not hard to comprehend why he has earned a lot of accolades. Being Laurent Garnier’s go-to sound engineer for around fifteen years, Stéphane also concentrates on live performances of his work.

A host of remixes are also featured here, with Berghain influencer Marcel Fengler, Rex Club resident and Skryptöm owner Electric Rescue, label boss Chris Honorat, and a couple of promising French artists known as Keikari and Kolde respectively.

The rework we selected for this DT:Premiere is by Keikari a member of the Regal Sound collective, modular enthusiast, and lover of sound textures, where his music has been released on La Chinerie, Joton’s Newrhythmic and Rekord 61’s Kontruktiv amongst others. It’s raw, hypnotic and driving sound is an instant draw, injecting not only power but depth and dancefloor prowess to the original.

Modular Expansion have events in a lot of European cities and famous places like Berghain, Tresor, Suicide, Sisyphos, Renate, Birgit in Berlin, also in cities like London, Rome, Barcelona, Sofia, Warsaw, Moscow, Tel Aviv and at the most prestigious places in Athens.

Modular Expansion is one of the first teams which started organizing Techno events in Athens in 1998. In the end of the 90s began to host artists from the labels such as Tresor, Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, presenting the Berlin underground music vibe and making techno popular in the Greek capital. Founder of Modular Expansion known as George Apergis performs already in 2002 at the legendary Tresor in Berlin. Counting in his history more than 1000 events and hundreds of guest artists like Adam Beyer, The Advent, Alexander Kowalski, Truncate, Ø [Phase], Schwefelgelb, Yanamaste, Parallx, Philipp Strobel, Psyk, dj Rolando, Monoloc, Drumcell, Brian Sanhaji, Radial, Substance, Vainqueur, Johannes Volk, Funk D Void, Dave Tarrida, Sender Berlin, Kevin De Vries, Subjected and many more belongs in one of the oldest teams in the city of Athens

In 2012 come the label of Modular Expansion Records, with releases and the support of global fame artists which has been the baseline to follow up events abroad and especially in Berlin, with gigs in clubs like Suicide, Berghain, Tresor, Sisyphos and many more.
