We are delighted to extend the GUN-X series with a second edition in partnership with HIDE Productions !

GUN-X is a series of releases that enlarge the processes of collaboration beyond the borders of the Global URL Nation. For each project in the series, members of the GUN community collaborate with members from another collective or label - exploring the results of cross-pollination and pooling across the global ecosystem of electronic music.

After an abrasive edition with Heel.zone in 2020, we’re happy to partner this time with the incredible multi-disciplinary collective HIDE Productions from Italy ! HIDE aims to connect artists by sharing resources such as sample packs, devices, types or 3D assets, in addition to delivering sharp and sizzling releases and audiovisual projects. Their dedication to provide high quality projects and resources over the years made it one of the most obvious choices to develop the series.

For the project, HIDE members SY/N, T.U. / Capiuz, Coeden & Leden cooked a pack of samples and M4L devices that were proposed to GUN members to make a track. 

AFGA06L, B E N N x Griigg, Cralias, Fungal Mat, jjjacob x P IT, Lukann, Nagruv, Sha Sha Kimbo x xato, & Talita Otović from the GUN community reinterpreted these to deliver a 10-track compilation that ranges from vaporous synthetic soundscapes to deafening growls, bitter hits and jarring noises. A caustic club material to handle with caution !

Earth Movement is proud to present its second compilation, 'Earth Movement Vol. 2', the second installment in our compilation series. Featuring a set of exceptional artists including Ebb, Kellen303, Fresnel Lens, Ship Sket, and Renslink, delivering a potent mixture of distinct sonic experiences that range from meditative modular dronescape to tender guitar pedal loops to paranoia-inducing astral head trips.

Fresnel Lens (also known as Paleman for his club-focused output) sits in the eye of the storm on 'Turn', masterfully harnessing the power of deep, pure heavyweight drone and ominous tones. Renslink channels strange but friendly beings from another realm on the bleeping and rumbling '2 Years & Counting', while Algea evokes uneasy modern sci-fi soundtrack textures on 'Her', with tension-building keyboard loops within hostile windy atmospheres.

Elsewhere, Ship Sket prangs us out on the disorienting and aptly named 'They're Para', and Kellen303 takes us into the sonic abyss of 'Oubilette' via pummeling drums and voices desperate for mercy (an Oubliette is a dungeon with only one entrance, a trapdoor in the ceiling.)

NATSO AS smothers a nostalgia-inducing melancholic synth loop with feedback on 'L5', while Ebb offers up the epic ‘Regrowth’, sounding like a Weightless Grime soundtrack to the next Marvel showdown scene. Finally, Recovery Position gives us the beautifully layered 'Morning Drone', where subtle granular guitar tones warble and offer some solace and calm.

"No caminho da praia, o mormaço derretia os prédios diante de nossas retinas. Distorção de metal, vidro e concreto produzida naturalmente. Chegando à costa, o impacto do vento exigia um esforço extra humano para caminhar. A maré havia subido excessivamente na noite anterior, infestando a faixa de areia de lixo e um tipo de alga de coloração escura, conhecida como Hijiki. Falávamos sobre a influência da rotação da Terra sobre o movimento das marés. Pensamos que o descer e subir das águas salgadas funciona mais como uma metáfora do que em um sentido vetorial ligado à inundação. Por um lado, há a relação do movimento da Terra e as águas. Por outro, a dança dinâmica das luas, dos sóis, dos demais planetas. Tudo isso importa. Sobre a zona arenosa, as algas pretas se confundiam com os resíduos deixados pelos humanos. O aspecto viscoso de um pedaço de plástico preto se misturou com um dos organismos fotossintéticos formando aquela que parecia a criatura mutante mais bonita que já vimos. Depois de sucessivas ondas de calor, esses tipos de seres se tornaram cada vez mais comuns. Polímeros plásticos plantas que se acoplavam a seres marítimos  mortos, formando os monstros de nossa época. O bicho permanecia imóvel a não ser quando interagia com a água salgada, que tentava o arrastar para o mar escuro infinito. Seus tentáculos se agarravam ao chão como raízes. Parecia o pulmão de uma baleia, o coração de uma máquina, um pedaço de tudo." - Guilherme Ferreira

Merlin Modulaw is a sonic architect who constructs immersive worlds and identities through the medium of sound. His artistic endeavors encompass a diverse array of approaches, spanning composition, production, performance, multimedia works and spatial audio. 

From an early age, his fascination with the convergence of various influences fueled a quest for innovation.
He seamlessly blends experimental electronic music and sound art with classical composition, contemporary rap, dancehall, and R&B, along with regional club-music styles. This unconventional fusion reveals the underlying parallels, forging a musical language that defies traditional boundaries.
Guided by a keen ear for innovative sound design and a talent for captivating performances across various mediums, Modulaw's artistic vision takes tangible form. Whether presenting acousmatic experiences, DJ-sets, performances, sound installations, or his own musical creations, he consistently pushes the limits of his artistic expression.

Having studied sound design and electroacoustic composition, Modulaw's creative exploration extends beyond the realm of music. He ventures into new territories such as videoworks and print, expanding the boundaries of his creative expression.
