Another otherworldy instrumental I have been working on, The Shimmering Light off the Waves in a Moment in Time.

This is electro-acoustic music, composed with interesting tuning on the acoustic guitar and layers of piano, synths, strings, bass, and a celeste keyboard, all performed with live multi-tracking with no click or editing, just pushing or leaning into my musician skills rather than just more stuff on the computer, so think of this like a painting with sound, or even emotional photography, because that is what I set out to achieve with this piece.

Are You A Ghost?

This is one of the 3 instrumentals on the new Module album 'Time, Space, Love - Volume 1' which is the first part of a trilogy of albums. It's highly cinematic and inspired slightly by Mike Oldfields - Tubular Bells with its layers of detailed live instrumentation and late 70s fantasy science fiction film soundtracks with the theremin, acoustic guitar, piano and retro synth layers blending with the orchestral parts.

There is a prelude (Intro), this interlude and coda (Outro) that make up the connecting parts of the album which overall has shades of Pink Floyd, Massive Attack and Gorillaz along with the evolution of the classic Module sound from alternate realities stretched over 15 tracks.

The music itself came to me in a dream where I ran into myself sitting on the beach and my dream self taught me how to play it, so I woke up and wrote it all down.

Howling at the Moon (Interlude)

'Shadow' sees Module (Jeramiah Ross) bring a soft dreamy otherworldly song driven by lyrics and real instrumentation with Andy McGrath providing slide guitar and Duncan McCann on the Bass. This track is about how fast time moves and being ok within the space and time you are in, because change changes all the time.

These Calm Storms

This is the Mega (continuous) mix preview of an album to celebrate the 20th anniversary release of my Debut Module album Remarkable engines. It features unreleased tracks rescued from the depths of the digital archives and remastered on tape with concept artwork from Matt Pitt. 

I created these tracks on early software and hardware in a small studio flat in the late 90s surrounded by machines, various synths, cables and floppy disks and several hacked together computers then finished them sometime between 2001 and 2004? At the time they didn't work for the vision of the album and due to how I put them together (making Pentium 2 computers do naughty things and bouncing back and forth to a 4 track Tascam Portastudio) I decided to park it and move forward with all the other tracks I had. 

I kinda see these tracks as the blueprints for really locking on to what I wanted to create, or what I was feeling and hearing in my mind, so in that sense, they served a purpose.  

The full album will be released at some stage but for now, enjoy!

I got on a groove with this track and it ended up all over the country on the TV. it didn't take long to put it together...i liked the trip-hop vibes and the mood, life isn't always what it seems....damn, that's for sure eh? it was released on my debut module album remarkable engines and became a classic!

i started composing this piece in my early teens, I heard a orchestra in my mind when the moon came out from behind the clouds at 3am in the morning while i was wondering around the hills...out in nowhere....which i still do from time to time....im not sure why but i just float around sometimes...wondering is peaceful....and this piece came from a moment like that...i performed it all over NZ with Fly My Pretties. and recently again in the Opera house in Wellington central to a sell out crowd. There are string parts for this I will get around to finishing one day when i finish up some arrangements.
