This suite reminds me a lot of Beefcake's "Coincidentia Oppositorum" - one of my all time favourite releases. If it you haven't already heard it, you should check it out.

«ALL NIGHT FLIGHT»

«ALL NIGHT FLIGHT» is an immersive nocturnal ambient sound excursion in honor of World Listening Day 2013. «ALL NIGHT FLIGHT» is a wide-ranging sonic odyssey which reflects ecologies of many kinds: environmental (ocean sounds, wildlife, atmospheres), religious (calls to prayer and ritual singing), radiophonic (data transmissions, Morse code, folkloric music), and beyond. The listener experiences “natural” sounds juxtaposed with “unnatural” sounds, robotic speech mixed with human speech, field recordings of electronic amplification carrying human sound across rural environments. Weiskopf’s hope is that the listener will be able to hear the world as he does: an endlessly recombinant sonic field where every noise, song, and sound, regardless of its source, takes its place in a perfect, haunting, and eternal arrangement.

Performances started between 9 and 10 PM PST and run all night, mixed continuously, until 5 or 6 AM. Weiskopf rejects traditional concert settings in favor of remote, rural, desert, or undocumented areas.

This edition, produced exclusively for Radius, is a 73-minute distillation of the inaugural «ALL NIGHT FLIGHT» performed, created, and mixed live by Myke Dodge Weiskopf in the desert of Joshua Tree, California, on 20 July 2013, 10 PM - 5 AM PST.

John Wizards - Mix for the Quietus

The fifth in Joe Acheson's annual series of studio mixtapes for Tru Thoughts Records comes in two parts, and is timed to celebrate the upcoming release of 'Archipelago Remixes EP (Part 2)', the follow-up to 2013's first remix EP of the second Hidden Orchestra album.

The main theme of the mixtape is remixes, both of and by Hidden Orchestra, and the mix also contains the customary eclectic wealth of music from around the world, multi-layered mashups and reworkings, field recordings, and plenty of spoken word including interviews and poetry recitals.

Part 2 of the mix will be released in the next few weeks.

The only full tour the Hidden Orchestra live band are making in 2014 is around Europe from March 26th to the end of April - there will also be a few one-off gigs and festival appearances - www.hiddenorchestra.com/dates

Un bacio, una notte. Poi ci perdiamo. Al primo intoppo. Soffici come la seta. Con la paura di strapparci, lacerarci. Con il timore di un futuro negato, di una prospettiva che non abbiamo creato. Viviamo nel qui, nella comodità di attimi senza panico, rifugiati in polveri sottili che tolgono il sonno e pure il senso di un domani. Vorrei averti avuto o almeno esser finito in un ricordo, in un angolo di speranza, dentro un soffio di lucidità. Ed invece sfumo, come la tua vita che sfreccia tra una follia ed un bicchiere, tra un sorriso di carta ed un altro giorno, l’ennesimo, da far passare.

A kiss, a night. Then we lose each other. At the first hitch. Soft like silk. With the fear to rip us, to tear us apart. With the fear of a denied future, of an expectation we did not realize. We live in here, in the comfort of moments with no panic, sheltered by fine dust stealing our sleep and the meaning of tomorrow. The Process Series relies on referral as people who participate each suggest someone else, creating its form, shifting in directions I would not be able to steer alone. Matthew Barney once said this about his early ‘Drawing Restraint’ work that really struck me: “I was thinking about how the body functions in training – how the muscle breaks down under resistance and then heals larger and stronger. I was trying to use that process of resistance to create form.”
