Die gebürtigen Essener Moe und Felix sind besser als Moe & Melmixx bekannt und haben schon auf Labels wie Music4Aliens und Subios Records released. Für uns haben sie einen richtig treibenden und düsteren Podcast zusammengestellt, der mit einigen Eigenproduktionen daherkommt.

1. Welche Musikrichtung hatte den größten Einfluss auf euch? 

Im Endeffekt hat uns glaube ich alles mehr oder weniger beeinflusst, was wir während unseres Lebens so gehört haben. Was unseren Sound bzw. Geschmack bei Techno angeht, haben uns die hiesigen Partys und einige Locals ziemlich stark geprägt. Zum Beispiel Breger und die bEATPLANTATiOn-Partyreihe, welche lange Zeit im Druckluft in Oberhausen stattfand oder die Jungs von der Subios-Records-Crew.

2. Wie seid ihr zur elektronischen Musik gekommen? 

Das war so ungefähr 2011/2012. Da begannen wir, regelmäßiger auf Technopartys zu gehen. Irgendwie kam das damals in unserem Freundeskreis so langsam auf – und dann waren wir auch sehr schnell mehr als angefixt. 

3. Und wie seid ihr dann zum Auflegen und Produzieren gekommen? 

Als erster von uns beiden hat Felix mit dem Auflegen begonnen, so 2012. Wenig später hat dann Moe ebenfalls angefangen, aufzulegen. Irgendwann haben wir uns dann nach längerer Zeit mal wieder getroffen und zum ersten Mal gemeinsam aufgelegt. Wenig später dann auch das erste Mal gemeinsam vor Publikum. Zusammen hat das richtig Spaß gemacht und lief einfach perfekt – wir haben uns von Anfang an super ergänzt. Ab da waren wir dann Moe & Melmixx. Mit dem Produzieren hat Moe ungefähr 2015 angefangen und Felix ist so seit 2019 dabei.

4. Wie würdet ihr euren Sound beschreiben? 

Auf unserer SoundCloud-Page bezeichnen wir das einfach als Psychedelic Minimal & Techno Stuff. Das trifft es eigentlich schon ganz gut. In Genres gedacht, würden wir es wohl eine Mischung aus Dark Minimal, Techno und Psytech nennen. Immer düster, minimalistisch, treibend und trippy.

5. Und wie seid ihr eigentlich zu eurem Namen gekommen? 

Moe ist einfach Moes Spitzname, abgeleitet von seinem richtigen Namen Moritz. Und Jerry Melmixx ist einer von Felix‘ Spitznamen und irgendwann vor etlichen Jahren mal aus einem Joke entstanden. Zufällig beginnen ja beide auch noch mit „M“ und Alliterationen klingen ja immer ganz nett.

6. Gehört ihr einem Partykollektiv an? 

Ja, dem MIKROKOSMOS Kollektiv, ehemals Kollektiv Stumpf. Bis wegen Corona alles zum Stillstand kam, haben wir mit unserer Crew die MIKROKOSMOS Party im Druckluft Oberhausen veranstaltet und hoffen natürlich, damit weitermachen zu können, sobald die Lage es wieder guten Gewissens und ohne Risiko für alle Beteiligen zulässt.

Wir bedanken uns von ganzem Herzen bei Moe und Felix für ihren Poddy und wünschen euch viel Spaß mit ihrem extrem abgehenden und geilen Set, da scheppert‘s ordentlich ♥♥♥

Tanja a native of Salzburg, Austria has established herself, quite successfully in music within the last couple of years, in Europes techno minimal scene. Rolling dark baselines with playful psychedelic elements gives her sound a unique character. 
As head of Tiefdruck in Salzburg, she is not only an artist or a dj, but also an organizer in the scene. The Tiefdruck (@tiefdrucksalzburgszg2020) gang regularly, along with selected guest dj's throw parties at their homebase; the RockhouseBar Salzburg.
She has played different clubs in and out of Germany such as as Cross Club in Prague, Mensch Meier in Berlin and Harry Klein in Munich.

Recently she joined @Mabu-beatz-radio in Hamburg as a resident dj, a station with lots of dope livestreams and podcast.

HAZMAT PODCAST Episode 25 featuring the power-packed duo from Germany, ' Moe & Melmixx'

The DJ- and Producer-Duo from Essen, Germany delivers a dark and driving Minimal Techno sound. Their sound is characterized by creepy, weird and psychedelic sounds, combined with short, punchy drums and straight, rolling basslines.  In 2014 M&M started to live out their passion for DJing together, after they discovered their love for techno by partying and got to mixing music through friends. The two decided to be a duo because they were not only good buddies, but also their taste of music and their idea of what techno should sound like fitted perfectly together. Playing music together felt right and since then M&M can always be found behind the decks as a team. Their musical journey leaded them to different locations in the Ruhr-Area like the Frohnatur, the Gracejones Club in Essen, Druckluft in Oberhausen, Rotunde in Bochum and the AZ in Mülheim - just to name a few. In 2015 the two made their first steps in producing their own sound and work passionately on creating new music since then. In 2019, their first track was released on the Essener label Subios Records, followed by releases on different labels like Music4Aliens, Creepy Finger, Infekted Rec. and more.  In 2014 M&M founded the Kollektiv Stumpf together with a bunch of friends. Since then the crew from Essen is regularly organizing different underground-parties in the Ruhr Area.
