Tales From The Loop - Main Theme (Metal Arrangement)

The first draft of the arrangement came very quickly to me after listening to GamingDragons pieces. I noticed two pieces related to friends of GD and I noted two things: They where light on instrumentation (piano and violin for Giving Thanks, solo piano for Fading Memories and Broken Hearts) and I though I could blend them well into a pop/folk-medley.

First order of business was to arrange the piano chords into something playable on guitar and I found that gave especially the intro a new vibe that I liked a lot. Then I laid out what parts of which song I wanted to mix together and landed on an alternation of sections with a finale where both songs get their melodies played as counterpoint to each other.

Fun note regarding the key, the song starts in the original key of Fading Memories and Broken Hearts but then switches to the key of Giving Thanks once that song sets in and I transposed the rest of Fading Memories and Broken Hearts after that point.

After that I added drums, guitar decorations, strumming patterns on the rhythm guitar and a synth pad to fill out the sonic space.

GamingDragon, I was really touched by the songs I chose and I could feel all the emotion you put into them. Hopefully I added to them.

Icy (What if "Toxic" was about winter in Stardew Valley?)

When I saw this weeks challenge on the 8-Bit Music Theory discord, to turn a sad song into a happy-go-lucky one, I knew I had to do "Sad Violin". The arrangement consists of turning the song from minor to major, changing the time signature from 3/4 to 4/4 and turning it into a power metal track at a faster 130 bmp. The intro plays with the listeners expectations by seeming to be in 3/4 with the first beat as a rest and with going to G like the original does but sliding quickly into G# from the major scale. Thinking of how this could be even cheesier I decided to do a key change up three semitones in the middle of the piece. I hope you enjoy!

For Orni during Summer Santa 25.

Going through Orni's extensive catalouge two environmental tracks "The Open Sea" and "Fields" really stuck out to me in how different and yet similar they are. I decided to make a metal medley out of them - the changes between 3/4 and 5/4 work really well in that genre. I had a ton of fun reducing the very complex layers into 4 guitars and 1 bass (and a surprise towards the end).
