A monthly 3hr exploration of all the sounds I'm vibing to each monthy. The only rules are 1) music listened to during that month & 2) 'there are no genres'. For 2024 onwards I'm using this as a platform to showcase friends whose taste I admire & who don't have a regular platform to flex their selections.

VIBRATIO)))NS is back with a new year & a new volume. to celebrate the series turning 6yrs old, I'll be sharing mixes on a bi-monthly basis, with the focus continuing from last year's theme of inviting guest djs to contribute to it. These are ppl that I admire who I believe deserve as much shine as possible, have a fantastic taste in music & an essential statement to say through the sound they showcase. The structure remains the same: extended 3hr sets, all genres all styles.

Stockholm based (but you can often find him on party’s in the Netherlands) MO))) spoiled us with a 3,5 hours set consisting of only quality grooves to delight your soul. PUF Invites #004: MO)))

Moe is originally hailing from Sudan and moving through different destinations landed in his current home, Stockholm / Sweden. I first noticed the 2 meter giant ( 2,50 if you count the hair ) on a dancefloor in Amsterdam wearing his usual colourful tunic, dancing his ass off literally as if there was no tomorrow. Rumour has it he's in the 50.000 step dance programm. The strange thing about first meeting him was, that EVERYBODY i knew , knew him already. The way I understand it is, that he's dancing at every party everywhere at the same time. Don't ask me how that's possible, it just is. 
I ve never met somebody with a purer heart and a purer love for music and dance. A wonderful manifestation of pure love for life and a deeply spiritual being.
As all the best DJ's the journey starts on the dancefloor, that's where we learn the pace and buildup of energy of a good set. We experience how it feels to be mesmerized.
I have nothing but love for Moe and the way he approaches music and dance. Give it up for the one and only: Moe!

Migrating from mixcloud to soundcloud. New mixes incoming, but for now I'm reuploading some older ones, starting with this mix I did last year for Davide Del Vecchio's REHAB LDN radio show at Universal Rhythms Radio. 

"I met @davidedelvecchiomusic a few months back (on a dance floor, as per the norm) while we were both losing our collective mind over a deeply soulful set by the maestro @guakacvo at the jazz cafe. We immediately bonded over the shared love of music and parties, and we bumped into each other again during hunee's wild 10hr set later that weekend. I will never tire of saying this: dance floor pals are the best of pals.

Davide and his crew immediately make me feel welcome and part of the gang, an attribute I value and appreciate above all else. So to be asked to play a guest mix on his wonderful @rehab_ldn show on one of my fav online radio stations @universalrhythms.music is an absolute treat, thank you for the invite man.

I wanted to capture the energy of that incredible weekend that featured dancing at 4 parties across 3 days, and hopefully this hour mix of deep gwoka, soulful electronica and jazzy house does just that.

I've been thinking alot about Dove, his verse on Tryin People and how much I listen to hip hop but very rarely play it out, which is weird as much of what I love about music is so deeply rooted in hip hop (which came to me through jazz, but more on that v soon). This will change.

Really happy with how how this one sounded, I think its captures where I am atm. A long island iced tea kinda mix of vibes: ambient, jazz, electro, hip hop, soul, house, techno, gwoka & more sprinkled here and there.

I've been listening to it on a daily basis & its honestly one of the most tender songs that I've heard & really set the tone for this mix: Gentle notes to warm you up before the grooves kick in to get you in a dancing mood for the weekend. For mix #4 in the VIBRATIO)))NS series, I'm super happy to introduce my friend @victor-roshu, who was kind enough to contribute a fantastic entry to this series, the first guest mix actually since I started it in 2019.

Viktor wanted to let the music speak for itself, so I'll let this mix do the talking for him, however I do want to share a few words from my side about the homie: 

I met Viktor during the Jaw Family party at Globus this past December featuring Deon Jamar & Sassy J, just a few days after I had landed in Berlin. I was still at that point feeling extremely burnt out & honestly spent most of the day considering skipping the night altogether, but a lot of wonderful friends were going & I decided to rally (so glad I did). After being introduced to Viktor we immediately bonded after dancing together for almost 10hrs. You learn a lot about a person when you share a dance floor with them for that extended period of time, he had such a calming & welcoming presence to him. What I discovered through our dancing+chats in Viktor has such a deep, deep love for music, dance floors & people that was very pure & drew you immediately to him. I really felt better after going to that party, it was a reminder of the wonderful people & moments that can only happen when we gather to move & dance. 

We connected again & he shared with me a mix he made last year, called "searching does not always mean finding" (https://soundcloud.com/victor-roshu/searching-does-not-always-mean-finding). I was honestly floored by what I heard, & it's been a repeat listen for me since the moment he sent it. The depth of sound, versatility, selection & soul he infused into that mix was just so beautiful to experience. I know immediately that I wanted to ask him to contribute to this mix series, because it really represented the sonic & emotional range I aspire to achieve through playing. This mix doubles down on all of the above.

What I'm trying to say is Viktor is dope as fuck & this mix really showcases that. Thanks for sharing it my man x

May has featured so many good moments with music, friends & dancing. I've gotten to play some really dope spaces, so this mix is an ode to them & encapsulates sounds+vibes that I've played out: 3hr cocktail of sounds from folk to house & from Afro-Latin jazz to techno to kickstart your weekend. 

The mix is greatly inspired by Sunlightsquare's glorious "Oyelo", specifically the AtJazz remixes of this record which are sweeter than honey & really sums up what musical gatherings are all about. Been a while since I've posted a mix, so wanted to share one from a really special Sunday earlier this month. Still trying to process how incredible that day into night was: The friends, the crowd, the vibe, the superhero team I was lucky enough to share the booth with...Happy happy days :)

I couldnt get a recorder in time but everything felt so so right & was super happy with how the set was, so dug back into my history folder & decided to record it for posterity. Zoomed around sonically covering gospel, house, disco, electro, jazz & more. I think its a good snapshot of what's moving me these days. Back to monthly 3hr VIBRATIO)))NS show, this time from the picturesque Albanian Riviera. I thought I'd share my set from Kala which was recorded live but sadly the zoom didnt make it (hope you managed to get your luggage back Juan!). Decided to record it again because I had the most amazing time playing/dancing that week.

Perfect conditions for the set that day: Lush weather, stunning views, lovely friends & fantastic vibes. I was at the yacht stage where the boats disembark after Gjipe, everyone was coming back just as I was about to start,  sunkissed & clearly blissed out from a day at the canyon/beach soundtracked by the homies Nu Genea. Couldn't have asked for a better handover.

Usually I know exactly what I want to open & close with, so I've been planning to open with Sally Oldfield's beautiful ballad "Blue Water" since the moment this set got confirmed. Mucho love to top cool guy/digger/dj @mattiaspolanco for introducing me to it: we were chilling on the beach at Kala in '22 when he  said "I have song you need to hear" & started playing it on a speaker. Totally floored us, what an absolute gem of a track & moment.

First (hopefully of many!) "Jazz (We've Got)" radio show.

I've been wanting to do a show inspired by this idea for the longest while, just mining and digging back through jazz (+more) and hip hop with the art of sampling being a bridging link.

Recognising a sample in a song always felt like such a wonderful easter egg, and I've always found it fascinating how a song can be universally adored, with a small portion of it being loved so much that it would form the DNA of a new piece of music (for me to fall in love with too). The idea that there's this thread connecting artists and music transcending generations, backgrounds and genres is so utterly romantic to me.

Every episode will highlight (mainly) a jazz musician whose music I love, and I'll explore their sound and catalogue through hip hop productions that sampled their sound and recontextualized it to a new generation.

I'm hoping to develop this into a show where I can invite musicians and producers to chat more about the process of sampling as well as their fav samples/approaches to production. I'd also love to get this idea to a point where at the end of every show I can share an obscure jazz or funk track by an artist, and put an open call for producers to share their reworks/reimagining of the song to feature in the next episode. Would be cool for this to be a proper musical exchange!

But! That's for the future. For now I just want to share this 1st episode: an ode to one of my fav trumpet players, the legendary Freddie Hubbard. We'll hear some of his iconic pieces (specifically 'Red Clay') that spread through such a luminary career, retold through the music of A Tribe Called Quest, Charlotte Dos Santos, Gagle, Jack Wilkins, & Raekwon.

1st edition of "Sounds of..." is now up: a 2hr exploration of the culture, history & politics of a country during significant periods, through the music created by artists at the time.Sounds of Sudan will be a deep dive into traditional & contemporary music from back home, spanning almost 70yrs: From independence in 1956, to the coup that brought Omar Al Bashir into power in 1989, all the way through the revolution that ended his 30yr dictatorship in 2019 & up till our current point in time, where the current fighting between the military and the RSF is decimating the country and has caused 5 million to be displaced internally & externally.

230921: Sounds Of...Sudan - Melodies Of Love, Longing And Protest

For mix #8 in the VIBRATIO)))NS Vol. 2 series, I'm so excited to have the lovely Amsterdam based @elizatrax on sharing a very special & deep mix.

I've always been drawn to her due to how intuitive she  is & her approach to music: she wears her heart on her sleeve which directly translates in the way she presents & plays "music as a diary". There's an undeniable emotive touch in how she threads the elements of each song, & the end result is a stunning journey that takes you deep into her psyche.  

Here's what she wanted to share about the context of the mix:

"In this mix I take you on a journey through my lovestory with Summer. We’ve been flirting on feverish dance floors, spending long simmering nights floating in tropical serenity, making love to the music, and it left me love drunk with a hunger for more. But those who play with fire take a risk and the time has come to say our goodbyes. With a heavy heart I will have to let go and cherish the good days.

The track that encapsulates the whole journey is Music For Plants by Jay Sound. Jay Sound's work brings together so many of the influences that have shaped me and has therefore become a huge source of inspiration. The storytelling approach he takes in many of his EPs (I recommend reading the Bandcamp descriptions) really resonates with me. Like this mix, the track is laced with 80s and 90s influences. Mentally it takes me to a beach cave with the sax giving it that very midnight and romantic feel that runs through the whole mix. It's very atmospheric, yet rooted in a thick bass and kick. This contrast is something I'm really drawn to, which I think it shows in the flow of the mix as well as the individual tracks."

Back with a very much belated live VIBRATIO)))NS. Been sitting on this one for a bit, haven't been in the most party of moods & I didn't feel like I could share this since I wasn't in that headspace. But I'm trying to get my ass back in gear & find my mojo again.

This recording is from my opening set (0000 - 0230) during @djwestfa's amazing Our Society party on Sep 30th of this year, where I got to open for him and renaissance woman Stella Zekri, both being two of my fav DJs in Berlin. Thanks for the invite Jozua <3

Starts slowly in the funkiest of ways before going through Soul, R&B, Hip Hop, Tropicália, Zouk, Deep House, Acid, Techno, Salsa, Disco, Afro Funk plus a few twists & turns along the way.

A few technical issues happened near the end while the set up was being juggled around (the dreaded emergency loop), but you gotta break some eggs sometimes. I really felt like I was locked in the groove during this set, & it's one of my fav sets & parties that I've played this year.

eighth mix is a live recorded one from our party back in September 2023. @moeelamin took over the first part of the night in ROOM ONE HUNDRED & delivered an eclectic set transcending musical genres boundaries, all under 110bpm. Moe is the founder of 'Black is...', a gender-inclusive initiative supporting BIPOC voices. he also co-runs 'Endless Groove', a non-profit Loft-inspired party.
"I wanted to create a certain smokey, sultry & (a touch) psychedelic energy into ROOM ONE HUNDRED, through music that (I hope) seamlessly moved between varied sounds, genres & influences. I've known Julian for a while now, first connecting on dance floors (forever at the front), always present & always moving. My 1st impression of him revolved around the feeling that "he gets it": The power of music, the joy of dancing, & the essential need to part of the collective experience.

We started hanging out alot more in the past year, and every interaction just affairms my initial impressions, on top of discovering the lovely and empathetic human behind the dancer, as well getting to know how great he is a selector. It was a no brainer to invite him to be part of this series and I'm grateful that he accepted.

Here's the mix in his own words:

"After you offered this opportunity to me, I put some thought into what I could contribute to the series and decided to use the unreleased mix I had sent you a while ago, but enriching it with another hour. When I recorded the initial mix back then, I anyway had the type of music in mind that connects the two of us and we both enjoy listening to when we go out. So it made total sense to use this one for the series. But thanks to the 3h format, I was able to now start the mix differently with a more ambient, african percussion and jazz focus. In the end, and looking back at the whole mix, I like to point out that this 3 hour ride consists almost entirely of music from black musicians and really is a tribute and celebration of black artistry in all these different forms, styles, moods and emotions.

VIBRATIO)))NS #11 - Guest Mix by DJ Treibsand

A little over a month ago we hosted the first '@black-is.' Link Up! at the wonderful @Unkompress, one of our fav listening bars in Berlin. 

The idea of Link Up! is pretty simple: it's an effort to create an intimate social club that can build a community outside the structure of the clubbing sphere, a relaxed environment where we can gather, share & interact to help foster stronger bonds, facilitate possible ideas being exchanged & just have a good hang amongst old (& hopefully) new friends; all soundtracked to beautiful music played on an fantastic sound system.

It was an open invite to BIPOC music lovers & DJs of all levels to spin, & I'm very grateful to everyone who came down with a bag of records. We all took turns to play some tunes over 4 hours where we everyone just went with the flow of things. A bit of everything was played, from jazz to soul, to disco and cumbia, which is exactly what I want the 'Black Is...' sound to represent. 

Seeing as it was a very organic session there is no tracklist / DJ order, which to be honest was a very refreshing way to go about things. Much love to @drdanieluribe, @_jan_k_, @toshiki__shimada, @thisismoodyy & more who joined (the registration form isn't working so I can't list everyone, sorry!) for coming down & enhancing the vibe with their selection <3

On behalf of myself & everyone who played, we'll be donating the night's fee towards doctors without borders, in support of their essential efforts in areas of needs in Sudan, Palestine, Congo & much more.

Slowly but surely the weather is turning, trees are greener, flowers are sprouting, & everyone's shedding their winter coats. Perfect time for another addition to the VIBRATIO)))NS mix series! Continuingthis year's theme of inviting friends to host, I'm delighted to welcome my homie Adam Cooke to add his flair to the series @acooke-1

I first met Adam at Kala Festival in 2022, surronded by beautiful music in the most gorguoes setting possible. It's funny, because whenever I arrived at a stage at the fest, I instantly Adam's curls boppin' in the distance, which became a sure sign that the music at that stage was excpetional. We kept on running into each other through out the festival, chatting here & there with every interaction confirming to me that this dude was a vibe. 

Fast forward to linking up in Berlin over the past while, & every interaction just reconfirmed my initial impression. Truly, one of the highlights of this period has been getting the chance to know him better & being fortunate enough to call him a friend. A wonderful human, fantastic ally, a true music lover (& selector) of all genres & a dance floor fiend of the highest order. If you see those curls boppin', know you're in for a good time.

As the we near the end of month, a new edition of VIBRATIO)))NS is now out, this time featuring my pal, partner-in-party hosting and terrific DJ: Eduardo aka @e_d_o

I met Edo at United Identities ADE in 2021, where he was rocking a limited edition Sounds Familiar shirt. He was front row and dancing his ass off, and I immediately knew we'd be friends then. At the time I was thinking of a way to revive Endless Boogie, a house party that I used to throw in Dubai, and relaunch in Stockholm. I wasn't really sure how I'd make it work, so when I found out that Edo was moving back to Sweden, I just knew I found the right person to collab with and create something with.

Endless Groove was the end result, a project that really combined our individual views of the ideal party in one setting. I'm so proud of what we've built with it, in the 2+yrs since we've started I think we've really shown that there is a different way for us to listen, to gather, to share and to move together. There is no way this would exist without Edo's dedication, insight and passion.

The real treat of it all though was getting to know Edo and his world. Everything I knew when I met him at Doka that night was confirmed: A lover of great music, and a person who loves sharing it with others. Not just music, but everything. I'm so very grateful for that chance meeting, he's a person I'm so fortunate to call a friend, and my life is a lot brighter with him in it.

Here are the words he wrote about this special mix

"First and foremost I wanted to record a good mix filled with good music. Eclectic but still with common features, and as always, full of jazzy and soulful elements. I have been quite stressed lately so I start it out very calm and smooth to put me in a relaxed state of mind before I slowly build it up towards a steady beat.
But I also aimed for it to be a deep listening session that tells somewhat of a story. I hope you will enjoy this journey as much as I did!

I am on the brink of the biggest change to ever happen in my life, I am about to become a father.
This has led my mind to gravitate towards very existential thoughts lately. I find myself deep diving into subjects like life, death, time, infinity and eternity. These thoughts have always been present but now more than ever since me and my wife are about to raise yet another self aware thoughtform on this earth. How mind bending is that? I still can't grasp it!

In my heart I have an overwhelming feeling of joy, excitement and curiosity. But of course it is mixed with fear and uncertainty. All of these feelings are important so I wanted all of them to be present in the music I selected when recording this.

I wanted this mix to somehow summarize all these thoughts I have in my brain and all these feelings I have in my heart. So if you listen carefully you'll hear that most of the vocals touch on similar subjects. The music is deep, soulful, joyful and sometimes mysterious, sad and full of tension. 

But always beautiful, just like life.

I hope this mix will make you smile, make you move and make you think.

By the way, there's a real treat for all of you who listen all the way to the end. Or should I say the beginning? I wanted to wrap up the mix with the track that always has me in tears. 9 minutes of pure magic that feels like crumbling together and metamorphosing into another dimension. 

Take a deep breath and sit tight for that one!

I've known Tarik for a very very long while now (since my Dubai days), to the point I'm actually unsure where we first met. Feels like he was always ever present in the scene in town, & we so clicked & bounded together so quickly that our friendship was just a foregone conculsion. 

Tarik is truly a music head of the highest order, where every moment of his day is revolved around loving, finding & sharing music from all across the genre spectrum. He's a bright beam of light, & this mix is a perfectly reflection of him, his taste & energy.

"So this mix was me playing live at Lulu & the beanstalk. I love playing there as they allow me tons of freedom. I tend to feed off the crowd energy and keep a constant upward flow, this time was a little different. the crowd would filter in and out. VIBRATIO)))NS #14 - Guest Mix by Tarik Omar

New month, new VIBRATIO)))NS. As friends continue to take over the series, this edition is soundtracked by DJ, musician, producer & gem that is @elenaslmtn.

I've met Olenka through multiple dance floors and musical events, with every interaction leaving a deep impression on me, the feeling that I've met a kindred spirit that I want to know more about.

There's something deeply special about Olenka and the way she approaches music, a truly ethereal energy that really struck me when I first came across her mixes (esp her Summer reflection’23: Retrograde Mix / https://soundcloud.com/elenaslmtn/summer-reflection23-retrograde), and reaffirmed once I heard her first official track that she recently put out (https://olenka-music.bandcamp.com/track/karpaty-dub)

YEAR OF FRIENDSHIP VIA MIXES continues with a fresh 3hr session courtesy my homie, my brother from another mother, best flatmate I ever had, the master of the sonic SOFT/HARD dj shaolin style, Youssef aka RADYOUS. I've known this dude for the longest time and our shared loved for music from across all of the sonic sphere was one of the many things that brought us together. Spectacular human and selector, so its lovely to have his take on this series.

Getting to know Juan & by extenstion the Hosoi crew is one of the most important connections that I made living in Stockholm. His passion for warm music & the sphere of music he digs through is so unique, truly one of the most underrated DJs that I know. A true connoisseur.

As the month comes to a close it brings with it another mix by a close friend, adding a new spin on the VIBRATIO)))NS series.

Gee Contreras / @geecontreras hails from Colombia, now based in Madrid where she DJs, co-hosts and co-curates the capital city's grooviest night, 'Mad Got Soul'.  Gee's also got Soul, oodles and oodles of it. It's something that instantly draws you into her, the infectious energy she brings is something that is carried onwards in everything she does, esp her sets.

"I met Moe a few years ago on  the dancefloor (as many of you I guess) and immediately we realized about the love and passion we share for music, it didn't matter the style, but just about the soul.  Funny enough, he is also a hiphop lover like me, so indeed these three hours have plenty of beats.

I have spent the last month or so working on this mix, going through all my vinyl collection, as I really wanted to select a lot of things, joints that probably I would never play in a regular dancefloor but that are tracks that I truly love and enjoy, alongside some killer tunes as well.

It's always a joy watching someone taking their first steps towards becoming a music curator & DJ: the way they navigate linking the musical influences that surround them alongside the cultural touch that define their identity to find their own unique voice. Meriem is a prime example of that approach as she actively spent this past year putting the hours in as she bridges her Arabic roots with music on and off the dance floor. 

As Refuge Worldwide resident she uses her show "Roots & Beats" to delve deeply into those themes as she explores music from around the world, & as a DJ she brings all those influences together to create a vibrant moving space for dancers.

From meeting her dancing at Kala to sharing many (many!) hangs, lunches , dinners & ofcourse dancefloors, Meriem S brings a special energy to the music she showcases, & this mix is a perfect snapshot of what makes her tick & what makes her move.

VIBRATIO)))NS #19 - Guest Mix by Meriem S

VIBRATIO)))NS is back with a new year & a new volume. to celebrate the series turning 6yrs old, I'll be sharing mixes on a bi-monthly basis, with the focus continuing from last year's theme of inviting guest djs to contribute to it. These are ppl that I admire who I believe deserve as much shine as possible, have a fantastic taste in music & an essential statement to say through the sound they showcase. The structure remains the same: extended 3hr sets, all genres all styles. (Big love for the artwork design by the lovely @akshay-gite)

First up, the homie Said Durra aka @Sadeedo. We go way back to our Dubai days, where we would constantly meet at parties & after parties, sharing mutual taste & mates. We've both left Dubai following our own pursuits, but alwasy stayed connected & appreciating what we're doing from a distance. Sadeedo is now based in Ibiza where he is bringing sunshine through his sets, as well as working on his own productions, with his first EP 'Desert Island' being released on, melding together electronic influences & his arabic roots. "The Bathtub at Pikes is one of my favourite places to play at here on the island. It's a tiny, intimate space, and has a real house party vibe, with people cramming in and climbing all over the place. Good sound in there too! It's a constant battle - a fun one though - trying to stop people spilling drinks all over the equipment or falling on top of you while simultaneously djing. I also love that I'm not facing the crowd in there, I'm facing a mirror. But (before you call me a vain bastard) I'm not really looking at it, I'm just getting into the tunes and playing what really excites me, which I think is the ideal recipe for a good set. I really enjoyed myself on this particular night in September last year...it was really hot, but the crowd was great, and joined me on a journey where we ventured to many of my favourite musical places."

VIBRATIO)))NS #20 - Guest Mix by Sadeedo

Final mix of feb as we stick to our bi-monthly mix plan, and this one comes courtesy of the wonderful Michael aka kingsleepy1st .

I met Michael through various moments when I came to Berlin, and even though the initial interactions were brief they always left me wanting to get to know him more, as always had a genuine energy to him. We had mutual friends and so many told me how great a DJ he is as well, and from listening to his mixes on Soundcloud and on refugeworldwide (where he hosts the show Wet Dreams) I really connected with his deep sense and love for music. Had the pleasure of inviting him to play the 2nd black-is in Berlin, where he played a fantastic (as expected) set, and we followed it with a brief B2B that was one of my fav moments that year.

He's been high on my list to invite and contribute to the VIBRATIO)))NS series, and what he sent has truly floored me. Part mix, part sound collage; he explores the themes of the Black experiences in the most poetic of ways. I cannot state how deeply moving and meaningful this mix is, and I'm so grateful to Michael for putting so much effort and care into it.

"The intention behind this mix was to create a space for reflection on some of what we have experienced & witnessed with such force in the past year - war, oppression, racism, inequality, and the apathy of many in the face of the suffering of other humans. At the same time, I wanted to highlight the power of protest, the strength from unity, and the role of hope and love in building a better world.I move through a range of some of the emotions I felt in response to the darkest moments…before gradually giving way to moments of prayer, healing, and empowerment, trying to ultimately lead to something more hopeful. A reference that really inspired me was Prayer / Protest / Peace from Max Roach’s We Insist! Freedom Now Suite, a track that captures the emotional spectrum of the fight for justice—raw anger, pain, and the hope of eventual peace. Released in 1960, during a time of intense social and political upheaval, the album was a powerful response to global struggles against colonialism and apartheid, and an act of protest in support of the civil rights movement. If you haven’t heard the album yet, this current moment would seem to be a poignant time to listen to it. My hope is that this mix resonates with you in some way — whether it is simply a feeling, a reflection or through some action. If it does I’d love to hear from you and please share any tracks (below in the comments) that you also think can apply to these times somehow…

VIBRATIO)))NS #21 - Guest Mix by King Sleepy

Kicking off March for VIBRATIO)))NS is the homie Reduan aka @fellagha . Stop me if you've heard this one before: "we met on a dance floor and we hit it off". Tale as old as time, but always a fact. Across multiple dance floors I always saw Reduan grooving to the music, and if you walked in to a room with him vibing to tunes you instantly knew the set and space were going to deliver. His bio reads "Music enthusiast", and it's true to the absolute max of what that implies: a warm soul, dancer and DJ with the deepest of musical palettes, something perfectly represented in mix #22.

"The weather was grey, the streets were empty, Berlin was calm. It’s the end of the year, and I had a few days off. The conditions were perfect for me to reflect on the year, and so I did, by putting together this mix. It contains a lot of records that I have obsessed with throughout 2024, music that held my hand when I needed, made my bright days brighter, and simply did the nasty to my ear, all put together in one coherent musical journey. I am extremely grateful to Moe, who has been a great addition to my life this last year, for this „3 hours, everything goes“ opportunity, which I interpreted quite literally. We wrap up this month's edition of the mix series with an all vinyl mix by the wonderful @jogita-sagolsem

It was warm Saturday afternoon in Rajasthan, day 2 of Magnetic Fields festival. Richard & I were wandering the gorgeous grounds of Alsisar Mahal, the palace & site of the festival. While making our way to the courtyard we heard some beautiful dub music being played, we followed the source & found Jogita, with her box of records, seated behind two turntables, spinning to a crowd of blissed out festival goers, all laying on the grass & taking in the sun, music & beautiful vibes of the day.

Jogita took us all on a marvellous sonic journey that moved through do many genres. The mood was immaculate as she played one of my fav sets of the entire festival. It's such a joy to discover new people doing it with such inimaticy & personal flair, and Jogita is a perfect example. I immeditialy found her insta & sent her a msg asking her to be a guest on this series, & I'm very glad she said yes. In this mix you're invited to sink into a selection of music that defies categarozation, & celebrates heritage as well as modern influences in such a unique way.

"For this mix, I wanted to create something soft, sweet, and delicate, like a gentle breeze carrying the scent of flowers. It starts off light and airy, then gradually takes  you into a happy rhythm where your feet start tapping, and you effortlessly go with the flow as the sound draws you in. A soundtrack for sitting by the window, watching the world outside, with flowers and greens swaying gently in the wind. It’s about capturing moments filled with nostalgia and sweet memories, blending them into a mix that feels both soothing and dynamic.

I drew inspiration from the concept of Singju, a traditional salad from my home state of Manipur. Singju is a beautiful mix of fresh greens, herbs, and spices, bringing together a variety of flavors into something truly harmonious. Just like Singju, this mix is a mixture of sounds from different genres, coming together to form something wholesome, soulful, and delicious for the ears."

VIBRATIO)))NS #23 - Guest Mix by Jogita

Kicking off April on VIBRATIO)))NS is lwstd.fm resident, co-founder of the party Pherotone in London and dear friend @emiliacloud 

I met Emilia in 2022 while we were making our way to one of my fav festivals, Kala in Albania. The first thing that struck me about Emilia was her pure love for music and the light she brought on the dance floor. We kept bumping into each other during the festival, and we stayed in touch since then chatting and checking in on each other. Over the past year and half she's taken her love of music from the dance floor and into the booth, and watching her journey is something that brings me immense joy. The same joy and enthusiasm she has on the dance floor is something she brings when she plays, and I'm so excited where this will be taking her. Asking her to do a VIBRATIONS mix was a no-brainer for me, and she soundtracked an absolute beaut.
Here is the mix in her own words:

"This was my first-ever 3-hour mix, and I fully embraced the opportunity to be playful—blending genres I adore and tracks that truly move me. It begins with ambient and orchestral sounds before evolving into a journey across the electronic spectrum, with some pop and indie surprises along the way. A recurring theme is the soundtrack of the 1996 Romeo + Juliet movie—one of my all-time favorite albums, which I recently fell in love with all over again. I remember watching the film for the first time and being blown away by its creativity and the way it wove music so beautifully into its storytelling. Music has always been deeply personal to me, and my biggest inspiration growing up was my dad—a talented musician who improvised the acoustic guitar heard at the beginning and end of this mix. To add some personal touches I weaved in a few vocal samples including a cheeky nod to my roots in southeast London and an iconic moment from another of my favourite 90s films. I also wanted to spotlight some incredible up-and-coming FLINTA artists from the UK and beyond."

Wrapping up April is Random Jams co-organiser, Mother Tongues host on Refuge Worldwide, selector, kimchi & noodle maker extraordinaire michi_dt

michi exudes a calming energy that draws you to him. I think the best way to describe him is by talking about the time we played together. We were invited by the Smoothin groovin fam for their 1st party of '25, & having been a fan what he plays on radio I was so looking forward to sharing the decks. We didn't chat much about what we'd play, just a quick "would you like to start or want me to start", to which he stated that he had a interlude to open & reset the room, something I was instantly into, as I also had an interlude for the same purpose. I knew then that this would be special & the vibes meshed effortlessly.

I LOVE moments like that, the joy of djing is sharing music that expresses you. To have a genuine conv occur without any words is magic. I immediately made a mental note to ask michi to contribute a mix to the series, because I wanted to hear him playing a longer set where he can take the time to explore his collection. & wow he did so in the most magnificent of ways.

What you're about to hear is a postcard. Drawing from multiple genres, soundscapes & movies, michi builds a rich tapestry that is more a portal to his world. This is what VIBRATIO)))NS & DJing is meant to be: an invite to selector's sonic living room while they tell you who they are through their records.

Here's the mix in his own words:

"Mixes hold a dear place in my heart, as they’re how I started out DJing 4 years ago. After a year of COVID lockdown, I found myself consuming so much media (films, books, videos, internet), but what I was really missing was the act of creating something. So I downloaded a cracked copy of Ableton Live and started putting together mixes based on random imaginary scenarios that I was daydreaming about. And this is basically what I did for an entire year: forgetting breakfast and lunch and instead sitting at my laptop warping tracks to beatmatch them, and obsessing over EQ and volume automations for “perfect” blends and transitions. It was a very solitary exercise, but I really loved it. After being taught how to use CDJs and mixers, I started doing live gigs and radio, where I found myself preferring to improvise, and I never really touched Ableton Live again.

When Moe asked me to contribute to his series, it was the tail end of winter and I had just returned from a long trip to Asia. I was in a bit of a withdrawn funk, watching a lot of movies and going for morning walks with my newly purchased thermos mug (unapologetically shilling here). I knew I wanted to use the opportunity to be selfish and to make a mix just for myself – to capture these solitary moments, but also to look forward in anticipation of spring. I won’t say much more about the mix itself, except that it was a lovely exercise in daydreaming, and making it took me back to the magic of those early days when I was just starting out."

When you meet Thunder Tillman you instantly feel his aura, and witnessing him perform live seals that impression. His performances are a true sensory journey where blends so many elements of sounds into his music, channelling traditional hymns from around the globe with ambient, electronic, and psychedelic influences that defy categorization. His DJ sets continue to channel this direction, with a record collection that explores far reaches of sound, and his entry to the series takes it the most enchanting and mind bending directions.

"I first met Moe at Hosoi in Stockholm around 2018 I think. We have since both moved on, so when he asked me to contribute 3 hours of anything goes, it instantly brought me back to those nights playing and hanging at Hosoi, a beautiful place where the music gets deep and anything goes. Thinking of what I wanted to play for my crew back in Stockholm inspired this mix. A multi layered trip through sound and space, hopefully it will take you to some unexpected places (it did take me to some :). We do some stops at Trippy, spacy, new and old while passing through booth ambient and groovy. As a bonus I included two unreleased Thunder Tillman tracks. Enjoy and happy travels!"

Ending May on VIBRATIO)))NS with a soaring entry to the series, by DJ & host of the monthly Unexpected Joy radio show on @voicesradio_ldn; the charming @unexpectedjoy aka Matilda!

Matilda is SUCH a vibe. A regular fixture of our Endless Groove dance floor, she always brings the most wonderful energy & presence to the room, a true "vibe enhancer" as I like to call it. After hearing that she had a monthly show on the wonderful London based Voices Radio (1st Sat of every month), I started checking her shows & found out that, on top of being a great dance floor instigator, she's a fantastic DJ to boot with a range & taste in music that can only be described as lush. Her entry to the series takes you from spiritual jazz & House to R&B & Soweto with such splendid ease. An absolute joy to the sense in every way possible

"This mix was born out of reflections on the concept of freedom. Creative freedom, freedom from oppression, freedom of speech, freedom to love who you want and be who you are. I am very fortunate in that I enjoy a lot of freedom in my life, and that isn’t something I take for granted. I’m free to choose the direction of my life and music, one of my first true passions in life, has been an integral part of that process. There’s something about discovering beauty, depth and joy in unexpected places when digging for new music that’s incredibly freeing and it’s one of the reasons I became a DJ. In that spirit, I chose to make this mix a boundary-free blend across different genres, styles and languages, combining music that has moved me emotionally and spiritually with music that makes me want to move my body. I hope you enjoy this mix and find some unexpected joy in it somewhere along the way."

Hey! I'm moe, Sudanese DJ, radio presenter & community organizer. I'm one of the weekly hosts of The Breakfast Show on Refuge Worldwide, resident as listening bar Unkompress, co-host of the Loft inspired non-profit Endless Groove party, initiator of the BIPOC-forward 'Black Is...' project & founder of the non-profit Wild Combination festival.

As a music, party & dance lover; I'm forever inspired/in love with the communal feeling manifested on dancefloors: Love, joy & togetherness through music. A globetrotter at heart (originally from Sudan, raised in the UAE & lived in the US, Malaysia, Sweden & Germany), I've travelled the world pursuing the magical feeling only dancefloors can exude; a search that proved to me that regardless of where you are: genres don't matter. What matters is the feeling the music gives, the energy/soul you put into it & the space as an active participant in the collective experience. 

These learnings are core elements of my DNA, & I take them with me wherever I go & whenever I play, & I do my best to infuse them in all the community projects I build.
