3 QUESTIONS to FINNEBASSEN: 

Q: Talking about your mix. How did these early tracks had an impact on your later career?

A: This mix is made up by tracks that had a big impact on me when I was starting to make music. I was pretty green at the time, but I still love all of these tracks. I think they had a very big influence on how I listened to music. I started paying more attention to detail and all the different sounds of a song. 

Q: You´ve been playing your music all over the planet yet. Which place is still the most magical for you?

A: I think it's difficult to say one place. I used to play a lot in Amsterdam, I just played there again and it was fantastic. But its one of many magical places. 

Q: Which future Finnebassen projects are on the way?

A: At the moment im working on new music. A new EP. So watch out!

- El Ánimo Vago -

1. How did you come up with the idea of making "El Ánimo Vago" to your subject for an  interpretation of a GK?

It seems that there are always phases in life that feel indefinite. Everyday feelings where you do not know what they mean...the moments in everyday life in which you are neither overjoyed nor deeply saddened. At some point then reveals where these intermediate states lead and what they mean.

2. Since when do you make music and why?

When I was 15, a good friend gave me a bass guitar and said, "You're playing in our crust-punk band now!". I had no idea, and 3 weeks later we had our first concert. I absolutely did not know what I was doing and I focused on poses.
After half a year I could play the first songs. So I learned self-taught and have always enjoyed the great freedom that opened up for me there. It was nice to see how my abilities, including those of others, developed out of themselves. Even today I still firmly believe that every human being is musical. You just have to find your own access and not be put off by the reviews of others.

3. Music means to you...and did you change the view of it in recent years?

Music has always been a big mystery to me. It can reproduce and evoke states that can not be described in words. Music is an anchor in all circumstances, and it helps me to survive the turmoil of life. I would be happy, at some point in my life, to take my last breaths together with the people I love and with music.

4. You are a member of the Soundclash Crew, a small but growing collective in Fulda. What are your plans and how did you change the music scene in Fulda? How can you influence and what is important to you?

Fulda is small and pretty stubborn in the first place. When we started 2013/14, there was no alternative for us. We wanted to bring colorful sounds from all over the world, away from the mainstream, in the ears and hearts. That was very well received from the beginning and that is exactly what we want to continue. It's not important to be big and successful, but to create great, sparkling conditions with our audience that we all will not forget so quickly. The world needs that.

5. If you have something on your mind that is important to mention, now is the time!

I'm listening to the beautiful audio book "Rage is a Gift" by Arun Gandhi. It reaffirms once more how we humans can make a positive difference with our overemphasizing feelings of anger and aggression as we take them and cultivate them. They are the engine of change and I think that needs the world over and over again. Resist hatred and destruction resolutely and create a better life for all of us. Happiness is there for everyone, not just any elite. This requires each and every one of us.

Moyn Moyn, what a little pearl of a festival you are!

I arrived at the festival Saturday evening and had gotten very little sleep before, as I went straight from a club event in Copenhagen to the long bus tour. Yet, catching up with old friends and breathing in the vibe of the place gave an incredible energy boost, and playing there was really a big pleasure and a lot of fun.

So... here it is! The recording of my set from Saturday night into Sunday (3-5 am) at the secret and absolutely stunning Siedbruck floor, built by the wonderful and big-hearthed crew behind Silk Sessions (a huge THANK YOU to y'all for making my Moyn Moyn a great experience, again <3 ).

I hope you'll enjoy it.
