This SKIN episode features a mix by Möhne Seide, a French artist and composer, based in Lyon. Möhne Seide Style is defined by a deep commitment to texture and atmosphere. Themes of otherness, motion, and memory, and the distortion or folding of time echo throughout his work, an abstract narrative that lets the listener project their own experiences onto it. “I see my mixes as mental landscapes where you can get lost, reflect, dance, and feel.” Every element is chosen for its emotional charge, whether drawn from IDM, psychedelic rock, film scores, or classical music. “I try to shape a coherent yet evolving universe, something that questions, unsettles at times, and above all, provokes emotion in some form.”

His inspirations go far beyond music itself. Nature, machines, ambient noise, snippets of film dialogue, all become part of his sonic palette. Music made with open ears and open attention. His SKIN podcast reflects this approach fully. “I deliberately started with a long introduction to set a certain mood, gradually moving into something more rhythmic and dance-oriented. That contrast is essential to me. I like to create tension, breath, and blur expectations. The idea is that nothing should be completely predictable, to keep attention sharp and offer a real journey.”

This particular mix captures who he is: exploratory yet generous, rigorous but full of instinct. It expresses his love for hybrid forms and contrasts, for the balance between control and letting go. “You can hear my sonic obsessions in there, but also a sense of generosity in how I build the mix, I want it to feel alive.”

And it does. It shifts, mutates, embraces contrast. It sparks curiosity, evokes strange comforts.

Mantras, repetitive actions, as words, and sounds, all have a similar effect on one's body. To recenter and provide space for introspection. From the physical to mental the benefits ring true, all supported at the core by a steady framework of inhaling and exhaling.

Expanding on these concepts, the latest compilation by French imprint ‘Just Breathe’ continues their devotion to experimental and avant-garde music. As the label states, ‘In Echoes, each track is conceived as a distinct resonance of a common breath. That breath is the label's core - a free space where different sensibilities meet, unconstrained by genre, yet guided by a clear vision: one of atmospheric, emotional, and deeply immersive music.’

Module X33 from label head, Möhne Seide begins with a heavy rhythmic base, the aptly named track filled to the brim with modularized textures that lend movement and a sense of unpredictability. Progressing on, drone-like melodies start to emerge that give space, and elevate the track to a crescendo of ethereal, melancholic voices.

Möhne Seide is a French artist and composer, based in Lyon. 

He distinguished himself with an insatiable curiosity for sounds and textures, which led him to explore the boundaries of conventional music. He quickly turned towards more avant-garde forms, seeking to blend genres and push the limits of sonic creation. 

Each of Möhne's works invites listeners on a sensory journey, immersing the audience in a soundscape that is often introspective and contemplative. 

In 2023, Möhne Seide founded his own indépendent label, "Just Breathe", which quickly welcomed big electronic music's names such as Error Etica, In Aeternam Vale, Mod 21, Deepneue. 
He subsequently embarked on several collaborative projects with contemporary dancers, visual artists further solidifying his commitment to interdisciplinary.
