Overture
Egmont op. 84 was composed by in 1810 and is a set of incidental music pieces for the play of the same name by Goethe. It is certainly one of Beethoven’s greatest overtures. Beethoven was a great admirer of Goethe, and was honoured to have been asked to write the music for his play. At our request, Ton van Grevenbroek has orchestrated this wonderful overture for concert band.

Crucifixus is more than a march. A procession march, the perfect background to the end of a story, sad and melancholic yet also majestic. The first section of the march could reflect the last tragic walk of Jesus Christ. Halfway through the march though everything changes into an illuminated image.
