The Onion's Place

In her wool knitted hat and her worn out coat
She walked with her bags in the streaming cold
Through the fog and the rain she was all alone
The fields and the highways that were her home

Seeing her makes me wonder what my life's made to be

Had she walked there all day I can only but guess

In the two garbage bags there all her treasures lie

All at once the dense fog lifted off of the road

She sat on the gravel near the decomposed

Strength In Rice

Once I held a plate
With colors bright and beautiful
I can see it when my mind awakes

The plate was in my vision's way
And I loved it most of all

However it got away somehow

As I saw it resting there

I took the pieces and some other ones with colors fair

The Plate

I thought of a woman I didn't know well
And she thought the world was as tight as a bell
Surrounded by people she'd lay there alone
Barring the feelings outside of her home

She thought of her life and how she'd come to be
Everything she thought of distastefully
She cried as her shame melted down on the floor
For everything in her had changed

She thought of the children whom she held so dear
"How can I love them while I am in here?
The pictures are faded, they're wrinkled, they're creased

They say that with God there can never be pain
But I think that death is the one thing we gain
